Character you're most efficient/productive/deadly with vs. character you have the most'est fun with

I don’t remember seeing anything like this, soooo…

I’m probably the most deadly with my Twisted Pimp Maya (OP 6 currently) and for the usual reasons; being able to control the fight with Phaselock, her ability to stay on her feet thru most situations, etc. She’s my oldest VH, the first one into the OP lvls, and I love her to death. She would be the last one if I had to eliminate one or more of my VH’s. (Shoutout to Derch for helping get her to where she is today.)

However, I think I probably have the most fun with my OP 3 shock Gaige; I limit her anarchy stacks to 250 so I can still kinda-sorta ADS without Discord (works great with her Lyuda against airborne enemies), and when she does max her stacks stuff just DIES. I think part of her appeal to me in this context is that I’m kinda playing her on the edge when compared to Maya, in that when Maya does go down she can respawn and go right back to being deadly; with Gaige there’s always the risk of losing stacks and having to start again and be weak’ish for the first few minutes until the stack count goes up. That kinda puts an edge on things…

So yeah…anyone else?

I think most of us would put Maya clearly launched to the top of the list.

My OP8 Maya ( SS Binder build ) will reduce maps to ashes in a fraction of the time that any of my others can do. I don’t have to guess or doubt my setup which is a remarkable feeling ( although it sometimes seems too easy…which is an odd thing to say about OP8 ).

OP8 Gaige vies for second place ; but as I’ve not played her to the same extent as Maya, I don’t have that same level of confidence. That said, her LBT/OC shock build with Nth degree is unbelievably fun.

OP4 Sal ( halted there because a Jakobs “allegiance” sucks on the Peak from there ) is probably the most fun I’ve had in a long time. Most know my approach - popping off single crits, which I find so much more fun than Vladof-ing. I could easily play this guy at OP5+ but it just ain’t gonna happen now that he’s (almost) completely geared.

OP7 Krieg I loved playing up to OP levels but I can’t really make him work at that level. So fun at low OP / sux at high OP.

Axton (OP6) confuses me - he needs work but will end up waiting a long time because :

Zero - never :worried: and this needs to be rectified.

Deputy Salvador is the character I use to steam roll through anything that I want murdered yesterday. It is Axton however that I have the most fun with, especially with the unofficial community patch. Without the patch though Maya hands down is the most fun character I have played and still do.

Occasionally Krieg and Gaige pop up on my radar but very rarely and only for a certain amount of time with the two of them returning to mothball status.

Zer0’s face has been the side of a milk carton for years now.

agreed with Jefe on OP8 Leg Binder Maya being my most deadly setup and since I hate losing my most fun since I can just crush everything comfortably without always using the top tier weapons in the game. I know you can do this with other chars, I just can’t do it as comfortably as with Maya.

however, a close close second for most fun is melee Krieg at any level past RTB, just such a unique experience in an FPS, never seen anything like it in any other game… I’d like to give a shoutout to the Devs for even having the idea, let alone pulling it off…

Another vote for Maya and Krieg respectively. The latter as much for Bloodsplosion as RtB.

Not so remarkable in an RPG like BL2 though.

Maya for sure. I have 8 of them, although only one at op8. If/when I play co-op she’s my go to. Earlier this year I broke 1000 hours with her, which was kinda cool.
I find Maya just suits me & I suit her. I think it’s the elemental element. Axton would be 2nd. Sal & Krieg are cool characters & really powerful, but I don’t get the same feels that I do with M&A. I really like Zero, but I find him hard to play.

Great question & I’ll be keen to read the other responses.

Maya/Axton for efficiency, Gaige/Zer0 for fun value. Maya was always strong, and Axton was my first character who I had the most experience with. I feel like the community patch overbuffed him a bit, but that’s a story that does not belong here.

I love playing as Gaige and Zer0 mostly because of their drastically different styles. Deathtrap is hilariously fun despite his many flaws, and anarchy is too ridiculous to not have fun with. I’m not quite as good at Zer0 as other characters, but there is no better feeling than one-shotting enemies with a well-placed Jakobs rifle shot or a Rapier jab.

Salvador and Krieg are very middle of the road for me. I don’t use the Grog Nozzle anymore because I feel like it is way too powerful, so I’m restricted to brawn playstyles or clever use of the Lady Fist. Krieg is fun, but all of the effects he makes are very disorienting. I can’t play him in co-op without feeling like I’m stealing kills and denying my teammates of their kill skills.

Difficult one to answer… I think Krieg probably wins on both accounts! When I started OP levels I got quite a bit better with him and @Gulfwulf gave me some great pointers at OP8 which helped me destroy a lot and throw away my Grog. So much fun!

All my solo characters are now allegiance and tend to do things that are less… productive (at least according to standard wisdom) so I find myself thinking less in terms of pure wrecking skill. But I’d go with Maya as able to put out my most devastating play, especially in my beehawking days… I enjoy every character though. Zer0 took me quite a while to get accustomed to and Salvador is still a bit so-so at times.

Yeah, this is a problem, though decent players are less attached to getting all the kills - especially when (if they’re not Krieg players) I explain how Krieg is so dependent on his kill skills and Bloodsplosion is a huge benefit to the whole team. It’s honestly irritating to play with people who aren’t willing to accommodate that…

While it may perhaps sound like undermining the idea behind this topic, I can’t help but answer Gaige to both questions.

Outside specific numbers, she’s the Vaulthunter I’m the most knowledgeable about, which I do have the strong community to thank for.

As @jefe said above, a OC/LBT build using Nth Degree is way too much fun. Nevermind debunking the myth that you NEED to to match the elements. Way too much fun with a Tattler or CC, seeing the projectiles flying everywhere!

She’s also the character I went more experimental with; a Jakobs allegiance with accuracy in mind, actually using a Unforgiven with good results. It’s on OP0 stil, but theorised that it could stil work until around OP4. This also gave me the oppertunity to use some other favorite gear of my, the Skullmasher and Striker.

However, for your second question, I do want to add that Krieg gets a honorable mention. Sometimes being more straightforward (in your face, I mean) can be fun (plus, more shotguns to use, always a plus!). Just don’t ask me about his Bloodlust tree, I’m terrible with those skills and admire those who mastered it.

Edit: accidentally tagged the wrong person. Woops.

I wish I could answer Gaige for both like Nova, but Axton is my most efficient VH. The Turret allows more control than DT, plus the Slag utility.
I also feel going down less with Axton, but sometimes I tend to make wrong decisions with Gaige about going in/retreating.
In the end, Axton was my first VH and the first to conquer the OP8 Peak.

Anyway, Gaige is still my fav and the one I have most fun with.

Hello there! Pretty interesting thread if i may

Krieg has become my main once i got the DLCs, and oh boy does he gets first
place immediately, on both sides. As many here mentioned, he got an aggressive
run-in-you-face style which is totally what i wanted when the game first
came out (so glad we can finally play as a psycho!); besides, in spite of
being truly fun, timing is everything with him, which makes for a good
challenge. Shotguns and Melee are my bread and butter! @hattieinduni @nombre As for kill skills,
i play him Hellborn-Mania rather than BL on the Peak… so i can let my
everlasting coop miss partner Maya…devastate everything lmao
I mean we’re on OP3 now, and even though i merely toyed with Maya months
ago, seeing how my friend wrecks havoc i can definitely agree with her
beeing freakish deadly.

Gaige gets 2nd place: she was certainly sweet and funny back in NVHM; anarchy stacks are
uberfun to see rising and made me finally understand why Jakobs shotguns
can tear through bunkers! DT saved my ponybutt a lot too haha.

My very first character was Zer0 for his ninja style and Melee…extremely
interesting char to play and i totally see his potential! I still gotta
take him from lvl31. He’s been very hard to levelup for me  i die too
much lol. A great character and AS imo nonetheless, i gotta stir things back with him!

For efficiency, Sal. Whether it’s Fero Krakjowski running Derch’s Deputy Sal or running my own Forever in Pain build with Reverend Pain, if I want it to die fast, I call Sal. As for just having pure fun, Krieg is the man. He’s a blast to play- pun intended- and his dialogue is among the craziest, fun and bizarre I’ve ever heard. He can beat down an ultimate badass loader, take out Motor Mamma with a stick of dynamite and blow away an entire crowd of enemies with a single strike. He’s the perfect stress release for when you’ve had a bad day in RL and just want to figuratively smash everything around you

This!

I’m also a Krieg addict because to me his whole character style feels set apart from (or an inversion of) all the other Vault Hunters. I played his DLC last and it felt like a wonderful contrast to familiar combat. He gets a reward from being close to death rather than having straightforward survival buffs, you have to be strategic but also take a lot more risks, Light the Fuse is a fantastic transition of ffyl, being on fire is a good thing… his skill trees are actually extremely subtle and to get it to work at higher levels demands a lot of careful thought.

And then as you say - the dialogue! There’s no doubt I’ve wasted a lot of time playing video games but they have taught me a few things about narrative I didn’t know before, and one is how truly incredible and exhilarating madness can be. There’s a few examples in various games, Krieg is my favourite.

Most fun: I wouldn’t main Zer0 if I didn’t have the most fun with him. That said melee Krieg between levels 57 and about OP4 is mad fun for me. Still very fun after that but loses some of that “ooomph” around there and peak itself can be painful to try running, at least for me. The idea of deliberately taking damage for health management is something different and the feeling of a good thrown, kill skill boosted axe splitting a skull from long range is priceless.

Most efficient: Sal + Grog Nozzle. No surprises here.

Hyperion allegiance Thoughtlock Siren is my most efficient/productive/deadly.
Bandit allegiance Anarchy Mechromancer is my most fun.

Ask again in five minutes, and I might have a different answer though.

Most deadly… hmmm, difficult to say! My go-to builds for all 6 characters are those that can trash maps without too much difficulty, but they just go about it in different ways. I think I give Maya a slight edge in efficiency though, with her variety of built-in slagging and healing skills, and Converge for mob control.

And the most fun? All of them!

Yes, I love Krieg’s dialogue!

Krieg doesn’t give an F about badass enemies. The other VHs warn “watch out, Badass!”

Krieg gleefully yells “SOMEBODY DELIVERED A FEAST!”

If someday I do download him, a big part of it will be just hear his dialogue…the stuff I have heard is priceless too often.

Great pic!
