Ok so normally I don’t notice if I find voice acting irritating, apart from Tina. But Aurelia’s voice acting is atrocious. The person doing it can’t do a convincing upper class voice, so it just sounds exactly what it is; forced and put on. If that’s what they were going for, the VA they used wasn’t talented enough to do a good enough job for it to be obvious.
I can get on board with other voice acting, though. Krieg is outstanding (is it the same guy who does inner voice and his normal voice?), I don’t mind Brick or Lilith. Mordecai is irritating but I think that stems from his overall character being annoying in BL2.
Aurelia in of herself is kind of unbelievable. She is basically the waking personification of madame Cruella de Ville on Elpis as a psychopathic murderer who gets her jollies off on bitch slapping people and killing endangered animals. Her voice sounds perfect for that .
I completely agree with Vinterbris, I find Aurelia’s voice to sound fake as well - they tried for posh and bitchy but often failed. There are voice actors who can do that role, but Kenneisha Thompson is not one of them, sadly.
Time will tell whether this bothers me enough to stop playing the character (heck, I need to have time to play anyone lately!).
I dunno man. She sounds exactly as pretentious as she was supposed to be, to me.

I can’t say anything about the english voices, except for BL1 and Claptrap (I hate that voice) but I have to say that the german voice actors are among the best I know and - at least in my opinion - are far superior to most english voices in the Borderlands-franchise. Moxxi for example: Her actress was the german voice of Aloy (Horizon Zero Dawn) and did a good job and despite these roles being completely different from each other, both are played well. Moxxi wins though as I’m just more used to her.
And handsome Jacks english VA gets a lot of praise, but he doesn’t even come close to the german one. Don’t get me wrong, the english voice actor for handsome Jack is really good, just not fantastic like the german voice.
As for Aurelia; she sounds like the bloodthirsty snob she is, over the top but believeable.
Sidenote: Gaiges screams are even more painful in German I think. But it’s hard to tell as both are just ear-murdering.
@Vinterbris are you English? Aurelia drives me MENTAL. I don’t mean to be disrespectful, but for me it’s the worst acting in the franchise. In a video game with cartoonish styles there’s a certain amount of exaggeration needed over accuracy but her voice has neither.
In fairness, it compares poorly to Sir Hammerlock, who is really good.
A lot of people say they don’t like the Australian accents in TPS but I don’t mind them myself; being non-American means learning to accept foreign voices everywhere, it was frankly nice to have a change
I’m a bit late for this topic. Aurelia’s voiceacting has kind of grown on me. Most of it anyway. Some of my favorite lines in the series are from Aurelia, in fact.
Then there are the over-top-wanna-be-posh lines like most of what she let’s out of her mouth in the beginning Helios station. It was horrible the first time I heard it and it’s still horrible when I hear it. The general slighly pretentious tone suits her I think. It makes her sound even more haughty than she is.
Yes, and I think that maybe this is why she irritates me so. Maybe if you’re not from the UK, or haven’t been around British people for a length of time, maybe her voice sounds ok, but to me it’s just obviously so forced and not natural, plus there’s no personality whatsoever.
Edit: Wow, I was late replying to this. I turned off notifications for this thread and forgot it existed
I’ve never played with any other language but English (don’t even know if I can on Xbox One?) but I have to say my favourite VA in the franchise in English is Jason Douglas (Krieg), and also Christopher Rager (Torgue).
I find the BL series in general having pretty good actor voicing. I can’t really think of anyone that stands out as someone that seems to just be reading a script. It’s at least part of the reason bl is so good.
