Glitch Weapons (Help)

Hey guys, I only recently started getting into TPS for really the first time, I tried playing it before but didn’t really like it compared to BL2. I’m enjoying it now of course, but i’m a little unsure about how glitch weapons work. I jumped into Claptastic Voyage earlier with Timothy, and the first chest you open gave me a Glitch rarity Tediore pistol.

I can’t work out what it’s supposed to do that makes it different? Please can someone explain it to me. I have read through the post about them on here but i’m still not 100% sure what i’m looking for.

Thanks

Look at the green code on it. There are four numbers and four letters. Each letter is a different glitch, and the numbers give the proc chance: 0 = no glitch, 4 = high proc chance. L = Loop, A = Amp, O = Overkill, and M = Murder (actually, I forget what M is, but there’s a post in the loot section with all this stuff.) O4 turns a pistol into a very accurate rocket launcher. Again you can find the others listed in the forum loot section post or on the wiki.

And I can never for the life of me understand why 2K Aus didn’t order the glitch codes in the sequence LMAO.

I see. It just seemed like a standard Tediore pistol to me (aka fairly crap), but the reload had nice damage. The code on it is O1L4M3A2

Low overload chance, max Loop chance, high multishot chance, mediumn amp damage chance. Nice!

Multishot adds extra pellets, so even a revolver acts like a shotgun - really good for fast kills. Loop is a bit weird, and acts differently on different weapons, but an L4 can turn a pistol into an almost-Infinity since it adds extra bullets into the mag as you’re firing. It can be pretty insane in a mobbing environment.

Here’s the glitch weapon details:

Many thanks. What happens if I put Glitched stuff in the grinder? Does it work?

It does, yes. You can grind glitch weapons with codes you don’t want to try and get ones you do. You can’t combine them with other rarity items though.

Glitched to gold they refill the magazine on a kill, also will fire continually without having to pull the trigger, although the last is only good (for me at least) in situations like the “Capture a Guardian” mission farming moonstones and or XP

by firing and reloading the weapon has a chance to morph, each morph changes how that weapon operates/fires

as VaultHunter101 says, there is also a Grinder located in the “Nexus” area of claptraps DLC

Is this good?

That would be pretty awesome for Claptastic Voyage, particularly the end boss.

The pink rarity means they’ll have good base stats, and beyond that it’s a matter of whether the possible glitches are useful or not. My most valuable glitch weapon so far was a Widowmaker (O4L4M4A4) that on several occasions triggered the loop glitch to become basically a Jakobs-Dahl hybrid pistol. All the damage of Jakobs, with awesome (and accurate) burst fire like Dahl. Good times!

In other cases a glitch can be a nuisance, for example my first glitch weapon was a Horrorshow, also with L4. Snipers become continuous fire guns when that happens - do not want! It still has good stats so it’s worth using, I just need to be careful when I see it turn yellow.

Yes, that Transmurdera is very good, worth saving for Athena to transmurder her way through CV with when she gets there.

Don’t hesitate to grind or sell glitch weapons that aren’t useful though. It took me a while to get over the “It’s pink, so it must be rare and great!” attitude. They’re not all that rare - pretty easy to farm glitch chests if you care to.

Glitched weapons best explained over here, so glitch with knowledge…

I don’t necessarily agree with the wiki:

Each Glitch gun features dull green text on its weapon card: Error Code: OxLxMxAx. Each of the "x"s represents a number, ranging from 0-4 for Overload, Loop and Multi-shot, and from 0-5 for Amplify. The number represents the chance of the respective glitch occurring.

Who here has EVER come across a glitch code that showed “5”? the highest number I have ever seen, I farm the hell out of TPS, is “4”. Show me a level 5 glitch code. Please :innocent:

The chests where the Cutie killer and Heartfull Splodger are found within are occasionally already open in playthroughs where the weapons haven’t already been obtained. This makes acquiring the weapons in said playthrough impossible without third-party means.

What?! This has never happened to me! And, I can only imagine the person behind such info may have been taken advantage of in a coop session. There are randoms that will join and take off in a different direction than the group or host for this matter. It is possible a random stole your Splodger or Cutie Killer. I don’t believe this at all from my own experiences. Chest don’t open on their own. uniques don’t vanish. Especially guaranteed loot chests like those mentioned in this post.

Not a fan of the wiki…

You are lucky then. I’ve come across those open chests any number of times. Specifically: if I open the Splodger chest, then often the Morq chest will be open. And vice versa. Not sure about the Cutie Killer since I’m not sure which chest that is. It was particularly bad when the game first came out, because some of the chests wouldn’t spawn at all, and the jump pad achievement on Motherless Board was notoriously glitchy.

If you do a run where you get ALL the chests and the item from each, please post it!

I might have to run through the DLC just for this reason alone.

Edit: Well, the chests aren’t located in a way that I can get them all in the same vid as proof. I may have to complete the DLC first, then get a strategic approach so I can get them all in a 10 min vid.

Oh no, what a terrible thing to have to do, replay one of the most entertaining DLCs ever devised

Just gonna pop in to say that those chests are always open on characters who have already collected those weapons for me. I thought they were like the Excalibastard, in that they were once-per-character weapons.
