Random thought. Is it possible? We all know how rare legendaries are in BL2 vendors, so I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s possible, but no ones ever seen.

It would depend on the loot pool used for “Item of the Day” in the various machines. I would not want to conduct a loot survey to find that information out!

I don’t think that pearls share same loot pool with other items, meaning that they have seperated chance to drop. As such I don’t see why it’d be different for vendors.

Well, legendaries can drop from the clay pots in TTAoDK, so you never know.

If they can the chance of one spawning has to be absurdly low that it is not even worth considering. Legendary can pop up in a vending machine but in the little over a thousand hours I have played Borderlands 2 I have only seen one legendary (Bee shield in the Zed vendor near the entrance of WEP). I am betting that they do not spawn in vending machines though.
You can find tier one pearlescent firearms in weapon chests though but it is a rare occurrence.

I’ve found pearls in common lootable items (trash piles, cardboard boxes) so they’re in the general world drop pool, but really it comes down to if the Items of the Day picks from that same world drop loot pool, but with the rarity level weighing skewed far more towards the common levels (I too have only ever found one legendary in a vendor, a Legendary Sickle com in one of the medical vendors in Zed’s clinic). If the vendors do pick from it, then there is a chance, but astonishingly low.
If BL2’s IOTD had the same rarity weighing as TPS’s, it would be much easier to find out of course! (I’ve seen quite a few legendaries and blue uniques in the TPS vendors, I’m glad they ‘fixed’ that! My hope for BL2 is that they do the same in whatever final patch/hotfix that may come out… it would be a little thing but it would freshen things up and make money actually worth something, heh.)

I’ve found 9 legendaries from vendors. They’re rare, but only rare enough to discourage doing any serious vendor farming. So if pearls have any chance to be found from vendors then I’m pretty sure someone would have found one already before.

I’ve also seen a number of pearl world drops from enemies, poo piles, etc. and I’ve found a bunch in chests. But this would be next level.
Now that I think about it, I don’t think I’ve seen an e-tech in a vendor either. I wonder if there is some special coding preventing pearls and e-techs from being an Item of the Day.

The only machine I got a pearl from was Tina’s slot machines in Flamerock Refuge. The 3 vault symbols gave me a two fer unforgiven and the Jackpot! challenge.
