Has anyone done a "Cursed Equipment Challenge"?

I’m wondering if anyone has attempted an OP8 Digistruct run with each of the characters using only cursed items.

They are:
Manly Man Shield
Captain Blade’s Otto Idol
Captain Blade’s Midnight Star
Rapier
Orphan Maker

I’d also say the Crit can be used.

What would fill the last Weapon slot and the COM slot?

I thought about doing something like that… need to get around to it some day. I think I’ll let Gaige rock that loadout when I get to it (that grenade though… I enjoy using it, but it’s definitely not for the squeamish).

I look forward to the results!

The Bane seems like an obvious choice.

Yes! I knew there was some fitting weapon for this, but couldn’t put my finger on it. What an awful loadout… I love it

edit - first impressions: the Bane makes this pretty rough. She’s using a slag one, and the immobility while using it (against Bullymongs here) basically means they get to clobbering you while you try to slag them). The Orphan Maker rocks though, because Cooking Up Trouble is always up (it’s got a mag size of one) and it stacks Anarchy pretty fast. I also didn’t think Captain Blade’s shield explosions worked with Sharing is Caring, but he was laying some hate with Robot Rampage (it hit a lot, but the explosions are unusually weak, plus I think he eats the curse too). Not nearly as he could with a Love Thumper, but I don’t need to be in the next state either. She’s using a Legendary Roboteer COM and hasn’t pre-stacked any Anarchy… this might be easier with a couple hundred on deck (kills are sparse, so no upshot robot, and Deathtrap dies/times out fast).

Suicide Krieg some say.

lol that might work trashin’ mobs at 72, but Idk about an OP8 Peak run. I’d love to be wrong here though!

She’s at OP3 there (with BAR on). An OP8 run through Digistruct Peak with that equipment might be impossible? If she picked a better COM, got a shock Bane, dialed in a better build, actually used the Crit (which I omitted because despite the rare slips, it’s otherwise an insanely good weapon), and hit the ground running with max Anarchy stacks… maybe. Other characters may have an easier time of it as well with this loadout (Thoughtlock Maya, Cunning/B0re Zer0, non-Nuke Axton… not sure about Sal or Krieg). Deathtrap is almost useless with that shield, but does give you a brief respite from some enemies (who focus on him instead of you); she’s largely functioning without an action skill like this.

Still… Dukino’s mom? Saturn? A single errant Badass Surveyor? It’s like being a glass cannon without the cannon. :grimacing:

That was my thought. Even if, by some miracle, you got to the double Saturns, what are you gonna do? I’m not even sure Zer0 could b0re his way though them with a Rapier, Orphan Maker, or lolBane.

The good part of the Saturn fight is the Ammo machine at the top of the map. Run up there, refill and aggro Saturns. They will come up there. The next hard part is slipping past them back into the arena where you can shelter behind the buildings and pop out and shoot. Then slip past them again and refill ammo. The biggest key is having Corrosive Rapier and Crit.

I…don’t know about that. As an actual gun, the Rapier is unbelievably bad, plus surviving long enough to do the damage. But if you think it’s possible, more power to ya.

Oh I know it’s bad, but a corrosive one would at least stick SOME damage…

I love this thread. Just sayin’

Maya with Thoughtlock may have a good shot at pulling it off. If nothing else, the Rapier could deliver Cloud Kill where needed.

Waiting on Cloud Kill to take down two OP8 Peak Saturns. lol You know the setup’s bad when that’s your best bet.

Reminds me of the old days when I killed Gee by hiding behind the rock. I got the DOT ticking, then literally went and cooked dinner, ate, cleaned up, came back and his health was still going down.

Lol, classic!

That fight design is basically that though: a DoT race. Once you’re ahead, you just have to maintain the lead until the end. You can either run circles around the arena, not risking any more worm kills (in case you can’t get him in there, and you catch some DoT), or lurk by the rocks and let him stew in his own juices. For a challenge, one could certainly stack pools on him repeatedly, but you’re so much more vulnerable to them than he is. I do enjoy challenges like that though, but when I’m after loot before combat, I will similarly park by the rocks and go do some chores.

I’ve mentioned this elsewhere, but I think I’d like this fight mechanic quite a bit if it was scaled down to a normal/mini boss (where maybe five worm pool applications would finish the job or something), and the pool didn’t spread to fill the entire room (give it a limited range, but with a limited duration too, so if nobody eats the pool within some set time, the pool vanishes, and you have to set it up again).

I wish that fight wasn’t so ridiculous. I love raids; I run those and farm tubbies/midgets more than anything in this game, and he’s the only one that I can’t farm in a “legit” way. (either solo or co-op)

I’ll admit, the CA stacking against Voracidous is questionable since I have to get the Scaylion stuck, but at least I can go in there and actually fight, not hide behind a rock. lol

So, while hunting Treasure with Gaige, I’ve been thinking a lot about this. The Cursed Items are just begging for a Melee Zer0. I think coupled with a maxed Legendary Ninja could do some crazy damage.
