I think it would be awesome if there was a cool really hidden easter egg in borderlands 3 about yoteslaya (who died a while ago ): RIP) and maybe even give him a unique weapon that’s totally awesome and badass. and maybe even a side quest for you.
Comment by PH: My (personal, non-official) perspective on this is that we should remember that his family are able to read the forum (as they did at the time these events occurred) should they choose to, and I really don’t want this place being in any way responsible for upsetting them any more than they have been. Therefore, if you have strong feelings about any of this, including any comments made by me or any other mod, I would strongly encourage you to contact the mod team before posting. Remember folks, the forum rules apply all the time, so whatever you think, post politely. Thanks.
Argh! I just replied to your other comment! Moving it over here…
EDIT: From the other topic where you mentioned this:
That way it is a throw back to BL2 (Slayer of Terra) and a tribute.
FYI: 'Yote is slang for a coyote. So maybe a huge skag? I’m thinking a Seraph Modified Skag (kind of like Hyperius was modified) with the full compliment of elemental abilities (like Bloodwing). As his health drops he progresses through the elemental stages. Then on death he explodes.

Given the past history of threads on this very topic (including the one @Gulfwulf linked above), I’m just going to respectfully suggest that this thread be locked now (@Kitty_Jo, @Psychichazard, @Tokesy97 ). I appreciate the sentiments of the first two posters, but the topic is sadly controversial, and I don’t see this going anywhere positive once folks start joining in.
Thank you. Btw, as is always the case, anyone with strong feelings or queries about this is welcome to contact the moderator of their choice directly, rather than post publicly, to talk anything through.
I don’t know any of the history or the person in question. I was just responding with an idea.

Don’t feel bad about responding with an idea, especially since you didn’t know the history. The first I knew of Yoteslaya was when the idea of a tribute was first mooted on the old forums, so it was all news to me then too (I don’t really watch videos as I prefer reading about stuff). Let’s just say that opinions were not just divided, but deeply inflamed, and leave it at that.
I hate to say this, but people on both sides were suspended because of how they presented their thoughts. None of the mod team want to have to go down that route again, but we will if it comes to that. If you think that expressing your opinion any way you damn well want to is of more value than your ability to post at all, you really, really need to read the forum rules. Immediately.
Let’s all make sure it doesn’t go down like that. Please.

(This might be one of those times when ‘strongly recommend’ actually means ‘insist that’)
Maybe so, but amazingly enough none of the mods nor the community manager are particularly fond of any kind of censorship. So let’s see how long we can make that last, yes?
That is a healthy view to have, and based on what you previously said it doesn’t look like the thread would have been locked if it hadn’t gotten inflammatory or offensive.
The topic itself reminds me of Pathfinder ACG app. When some of us on the forums would pose good ideas, or were helpful contributors they might add content to the game (cards usually) to reflect the ideas or show a little nod to the users. Albeit they had a much smaller userbase at the time, but it would be cool if Gearbox did something small like that…Oh, idea! I’m about to pop over to the Make your own legendary thread! BRB!
I understand people feel passionately about this topic, but it has been opened on several occasions. Whatever each side has wanted to say has already been said before a multitude of times, and whether one is pro or against the idea, it has been argued to the fullest degree.
This is an open forum, and people are welcome to discuss their ideas respectfully.
But I assure you, there isn’t much that can be said now that hasn’t already been said.
When Humanity honours a person, their character comes to the forefront. Their character becomes more important than any achievement.
Besides, there is virtually zero chance GB did this. It would attract attention (and protest probably) from outside the gaming community which would be extremely bad PR.
We are all flawed in our own way…somehow. No one is perfect.
And there is no question that Yote did not add to that game (whether positively or negatively…your call).
I also agree that there is ZERO chance of GB doing this but to me at least…it would be not only fine, but would show what an incredible company GB is. A company who can do things whether tongue in cheek, or humorously, and have it be successfully interpreted across borders and cultures.
I have no problem with the idea. Again…just my OPINION.
Correct, we are all flawed. Some more than others. I smoke cigarettes. Sometimes I’m unnecessarily rude to people. I don’t mean to be, but sometimes I rub people up the wrong way. I dislike Christmas. I could go on all day… The point being, is that these are flaws. It’s a long way from a flaw to what the US calls a felony.
And while it might be sublime to forgive, forgiveness is a long way from acceptance or wanting to honour someone. Forgiveness shouldn’t even be entering your head imho, unless you were personally involved.
Out of curiosity, there’s no moral dilemma here for you?
I am not aware that Yote had been convicted of a Felony. Is that the case?
I was under the impression he was simply a flawed character who made some bad decisions leading to his death.
I know he also “got into it” in the forums and on YouTube posting some questionable information and then defending it. Although most of his vids are decently informative and fairly mundane.
There must be more to this or you wouldn’t be passionate about this.
I killed people for a living for 25 years…only I wore a uniform so that made it… “OK”
How much more of a “Moral Dilemma” can one possibly have???
