Ideas for BL2 Fifth Anniversary

It hardly seems possible, but this September will be the 5th anniversary of BL2’s release. So, what are your ideas for a suitable celebration? Some thoughts of my own:

  • Either SHiFT codes or a greatly increased drop chance for Community Day Heads and Skins
  • Special anniversary period where the original Loot Hunt drops were re-instated (Grog Nozzle etc.)
  • Special anniversary heads and skins

Other ideas?

A secret boss on the theme “five”. Five TRULY badass bandits (marauders, nomads, psychos, rats) that can be summoned in one of the vanilla maps.

Find a way to get my hands some seraph crystals. By the way how do I get some?

Defeat raid bosses (except for Terra) or play the slots in Tina’s DLC.

Strange, I’ve kill Hyperious and Gee twice and still nothing.

…in UVHM ONLY.

I’ve been tossing around some ideas for an anniversary raid boss myself:

#Pitchfork the Ultra-Invincible

  • Always 5 levels above the highest levelled player or the OP level, whichever is greater
  • Magically appears in the place of any other raid boss with a 1 in 5 random chance
  • Guaranteed to drop 5 items from the game’s legendary (orange) pool
  • Guaranteed to drop an item per player of each of the following five rarities:
    • pearlescent
    • seraph
    • e-tech
    • purple or red-text purple
    • blue or red-text blue
  • Has in addition a total of five guaranteed rolls of the Raid Boss loot definition list
  • Has a shield in the form of a giant top hat, which allows Pitchfork the Ultra-Invincible to teleport instantly to a different part of the raid arena when depleted; this can happen up to five times per encounter (the hat drops to the ground and PRESTO EXCHANGE-O!)
  • If a player dies during the encounter, Pitchfork the Ultra-Invincible can level up a maximum of five times
  • Pitchfork the Ultra-Invincible has five critical hit locations but, perversely, they are NOT revealed during Zer0’s deception. Some things are secret!
  • Pitchfork the Ultra-Invincible uses a pitchfork with five tines (pointy bits), which he uses in five different ways:
    • Sudden Stab: targets a single player. if Pitcfork scores a critical hit, 5% of damage done is returned as shield regeneration
    • Swinging Swipe: Pitchfork swings his weapon in a wide arc; any player hit by the Pitchfork is stunned for 5 seconds
    • Shooting Stars: after charging for 5 seconds, the pitchfork launches five orbs which cause splash damage wherever they land. This is randomly one of: burn, corrosive, electrocute, explosive, or slag
    • Sudden Death: after charging for 5 seconds, the pitchfork fires a bolt at any one player, dealing corrosive, explosive, fire, shock, or slag damage
    • Summoning: whenever Pitchfork the Ultra-Invincible’s health is reduced by 1/5th, the pitchfork becomes a magic wand and summons in five adds. These will be BA, Super BA, or Ultimate BA versions (depending on game mode) with one each of the following five enemy types:
      • Magicians (basically the dudes from TTAoDK)
      • Assistants (bandit enemies with sequin skins)
      • Hawkish Doves (surveyors with white skins)
      • Killer Rabbits (reskinned skags and stalkers)
      • Carnivorous Flowers (threshers)
    • The fifth time this occurs (ie when health goes to zero), Pitchfork the Ultra-Invincible temporarily disappears. Once the wave of adds is cleared, he reappears with 5% health remaining. This is to ensure 5 waves of adds.

Game on! Now would someone like to do some character sketches?

Get all of my mules up to at least level 72- heck, I only have 36 of them…

I adore this Pitchfork idea! I’m thinking he should be a gigantic (like, Hyperius-sized) Psycho wearing that tophat, with the pitchfork in place of his buzzaxe. Maybe they could get the Psycho voice actor(s?) to do a few one-offs of lines from Harry Potter or LotR or whatever, throw in some Easter egg(s) related to David Copperfield or Harry Houdini. But LOVE this…

So you can’t get any in the normal play through?

Correct, you can only get Seraph crystals at UVHM.

LOOT HUNT!

…although I wouldn’t say no to another Vermi weekend.

Booooo, okay thank you.

Buffing some of the bad skills in the game to allow us new builds 5 years in to the games life would be pretty dope by itself. There’s alot of things listed in the “the last patch, is it?” thread a while ago, too.

I sure wouldn’t mind some limited time event happening in the game, but I’d rather see some changes that stick around for the enjoyment of people still playing. Being able to get a legit Grog again would be nice (or a small buff to Rubi’s heal %, so it would stick around too, I’d like that).

On a related note: when the DLCs first came out, the level cap was 50 and you could get seraph crystals in TVHM. I had almost got my first character to max level when UVHM dropped and seraph crystals became available only in UVHM. I was mightily miffed! It took a loooooong time for me to get my first crystals.

This would make me happy. A 5th anniversary loot hunt would be fantastic.

@ChemicalConundrum

actually you can get them in NVHM and TVHM, but only in Flamerock and only from the eridium slots and then it’s only 3 per hit, so it’s a very poor farm for them

Well that’s better than nothing, I’m going through TVHM now anyway.

Increase the spawn rate of Vermi and OOO 5x. lol

Seriously though, I love the idea of bringing back the loot hunt since I didn’t play BL back when they did that stuff.

Was just thinking about this. Did you know, that during this past December there was an average of 8.5k PC players in this game every day? With a peak of nearly 20,000 PC players enjoying this game? This game needs more community love from Gearbox, we love this game they’ve created and want more, more, more input from them. Holding another “$100,000 Loot Hunt” style event (i.e. altering drops and giving us daily targets) would be a phenomenal way to bring everyone back into this game. I will be playing this game for years to come, and I always look forward to more community events put on by Gearbox.
