I bought the handsome collection for ps4 a little over a year ago and i’ve played borderlands 2 pretty much the whole time up till a couple days before posting this. I loved it and eventually learned things and a lot of people helped me. I haven’t been able to find the same for tps. So i have some questions because I’m having a hard time with my play through. I’m playing wilhelm and i’m now level 31. Enemies always seem to take me out so easy in tvhm and I’m not understanding how to get good gear or just good enough gear to get me through tvhm. Most people say too not farm till way later but if thats the case, I’m wondering what methods people used to always keep their gear relevant and useful up until level cap when at that point I know the endgame and you then farm and finalize your builds and grind for certain gear. If anyone could help me out I’d really appreciate it. I still consider myself a noob because I got into borderlands when the Handsome Collection came out and really had no prior knowledge of the game, so i always have questions, and some I cant find in a youtube vid. So thanks to all for hearing me out and hope to hear from some people who have played this game endlessly and understand what their doing 99% of the time haha.
…almost forgot to add this also: Even when I would attempt to go farm in tvhm most respawed bosses spawn at level 50 or higher and I’m only level 30. This happens with iwajira for instance.
Either turn all of your greens into blues using the grinder, or vendor farm. Vendors have far better loot than in BL2, you can even find quite a few legendaries from them. There are also moonstone chests to farm. Then, as usual, there is quest farming for unique weapons.
The thing about farming in TPS is that unless you’re quest farming, you need some kind of currency, mostly moonstones. Vendor farming can be a bit cheaper and faster if you aren’t looking for a specific weapon type, but if you need a specific weapon like a sniper or a pistol the grinder will serve you better.
BTW, Iwa always spawns at lvl 50 until UVHM, but the other bosses shouldn’t be that high. Then again, I’m not sure which specific bosses you mean.
hey thanks for replying! okay I’ll give the grinder, vendors and some quests a shot. plus I’m sure the, xp from doing them will help out as well. I’d like to get some good lasers and would like to find that Eddie oz kit I think it’s called if you know what I’m talking about. I was pretty confused about what to do and kept getting ■■■■ gear and everyone was wrecking me. It’s a lot different from bl2 yet similar in some ways. Do you still play tps?
Not anymore, my controller is busted so I can’t do much in game. I still play the forum game though .
You can grind the eddie, though I don’t remember how. You can also try hitting up the trade forums to see if someone has a low level one they wouldn’t mind giving away.
For lasers, the one you get from Janie (that looks like an American flag) is pretty good early on. Keep your eye out for Maliwan, hyperions, and tediore splitters. Dahl lasers aren’t that great on anyone besides Nisha since she has a bore family skill and can eliminate the recoil in showdown.

Iwajira should be about level 30 in NVHM, as should the Sentinel. You could farm each of them a few times to get some decent gear to keep you up at the start of TVHM, as well as some opportunities to grind the lower-quality gear they drop.
Also keep in mind that vendors level with you in TPS, unlike other Borderlands games, so you can always do a few runs around Concordia whenever you feel like your gear is starting to get dated.
There’s also quite a few bosses and enemies you can farm for unique gear. You have to activate some of them through the sidequests. As others said above. Theres moonstone chests, vendors, the grinder. Its actually very easy to get good gear in tps. Even easier than borderlands 2. Some bosses i recommend getting their loot are:
And as for leveling, I usually don’t go to tvhm until I’m over 35 just as a safety precaution. This may begin to sound old, but the golden chest in Concordia is the way to go when leveling up characters. Borderlands sometimes post codes for golden keys on their social media, and they are very useful. If you don’t have internet to play like I used to and couldn’t use the chest, farming the sentinels is another good way to go, since you have the chance at legendaries and purple items
