Best gun non DLC

can anyone tell me what is the best gun to get that isn’t overpowered as hell (conference call or norfleet) that isn’t part of any DLC and where can it be farmed plus what prequests need to be met

I would say the Unkept Harold. It’s a very powerful pistol from Torgue (so it’s going to be explosive, obviously) with unlisted pellets (the main pellet splits into 7) and it consumes 3 ammo per shot. You can farm it by killing Savage Lee on Three Horns Divide after you reach Sanctuary for the first time. It may be overpowered if you’re playing on normal mode, but it’s a very good weapon that you get early on the game and doesn’t require skill to use. I recommend buying upgrades for pistol ammo, tho.

Let’s not forget the Lady Fist. 800% Crit Damage (since a patch) comes out at 1800% due to the way the game calculates crits (and it having a slightly higher crit modifier). It also comes in all non-Torgue elements although it’s still a Blue gun so the chances for that aren’t too good. Being Hyperion, it’s gimmick allows it to pick of targets far away although the initial sway is of course pretty strong. Naturally, it works extremely well with the Bee but that’s just a bonus and not the main draw of this gun.
It is however a reward for a side mission almost at the end of the story.

Oh and the Conference Call isn’t overpowered, it’s just that it used to work ridiculously well with the Bee due to it’s gimmick which has since been fixed. It’s still a very good gun though, underrated even but awfully difficult to get in the base game and outshined by the Interfacer in DLC3. It’s one of my favorite guns actually, especially as Maya with 11/5 in Chain Reaction.

“Best gun” is subjective, and also a bit dependent on who and how you play. The Emperor is under-rated but a nice SMG counter-part to the Bitch, Baby Maker, and Good Touch/Bad Touch. Deliverance and Sledge’s both have their uses and are excellent choices if you don’t have a CC. Lots of really good purple weapons in all categories as well, and e-tech plasma casters are great on pretty much everyone. I could go on, but you see where I’m going with this!

People keep forgetting about these guns. They’re really good, and sooooo easy to get.

The Emperor is a good recommendation, as it’s a strong SMG that’s not insanely powerful but is absolutely no slouch. If you can back it with a high fire rate from whatever source, it really shines.

The Bad Touch is easy to farm once. The Good Touch you can get fresh whenever you want. This gun is close to being over powered in my opinion: bonus crit damage and Moxxi healing on one of the few (only?) weapons in the game whose fire DoT can polish off enemies at OP8. You really have to earn that though, which is why I still rate at not quite overpowered.

I might recommend the Lascaux. It’s a very easy farm relatively early in the game, and doesn’t have a trick shot to get to work (just walk into Frostburn Canyon to the place shown on the map below in blue, and it’ll be sitting there in a pool of water along the wall; look for the blue loot indicator). If you don’t like the parts, just exit the map and walk back in, and another should appear. It works quite well without being the sort of thing that lets you steamroll the game (in late UVHM anyway). It is a Dahl weapon, so being scoped in will give you burst fire, but it still has automatic fire mode when not scoped in.

Big shout out to the Ravager, Anarchist, and Droog.

Hehe :3 At the very least the the Lady Fist does require precise aiming to reach it’s potential, otherwise the damage is utterly pitiful. I really only consider guns that are stupidly easy to use, still hurt like hell and are viable most of the time to be really OP hence why I mentioned this thing.

They’re utterly ridiculous on Maya though and that really only requires a Cat COM. With their splash, strong bonus crit, great elements and heal they’re basically god mode for her in many instances.

I could say Fibber, but im personally not a fan of non-Jakobs pistols (Jakobs makes revolvers technically but anyway).

To name a few things:
Minigun (Dahl),
Coach Gun,
Muckamuck,
Skullmasher once you boost its accuracy somehow,
Emperor,
Veruc.

I was thinking Lascaux! Really sturdy weapon.

I also like the RokSalt. And the lighter Moxxis generally: Kitten, Heart Breaker.

And how about… The Bane?

The Conference Call is a solid gun, but far from overpowered. It’s fantastic for taking out Buzzards.

What about the PBFG? It is like a scaled back Norfleet. Probably one of my favorite launchers.

I know that the Unkept Harold is overpowered (as I mentioned on my post), but he sounded very confused by saying “the best gun that isn’t overpowered as hell”.

when I was saying “overpowed” I was referring to the drop rate from the boss (I know the conference call isn’t overpowered but it takes almost infinite farming trys to get it) plus thanks for all your responces it means a lot to see that im getting help from more in the community.

Through that lens, I’d go with the Good Touch. It can be farmed safely and easily right in Sanctuary every time you start playing (although I say that having more money than I know what to do with).

To get it, go to Moxxi’s bar, and start tipping her. If you haven’t done this before, you’ll get a Bad Touch (much the same weapon, but corrosive). Note that you’ll only get the Bad Touch once, and it won’t be available again until your next playthrough (TVHM, UVHM, wherever you are), so make it count. After you’ve received the Bad Touch, tipping her will get you a Good Touch every time you quit and return. You have to drop, what, around ~$10K in her tip jar before she coughs it up. It’s no guarantee though, so if you drop that much money and she doesn’t produce, quit and start over.

You’ve probably gathered by now that this isn’t how most people interpret the term, “overpowered”. “Easily farmed” is probably closer to what you want.

yeah that’s what I mean

if i tip her now will it remain the same level as I started (LVL10) or increase its level to mine (LVL26)???

The gun will be at (or near? I don’t remember if it’s guaranteed to match your level, but it’ll be close at worst) whatever level you are every time you get it. You can get a fresh one every time you level up. Heck, you can get a fresh one repeatedly if you don’t like the parts you got.

IIRC it’s levelled to the player. At least I don’t recall ever getting a Good Touch below my own level, even though the Sanctuary map (and therefore the loot in boxes and lockers) only goes up in fixed stages in NVHM.
