Best build/weapons against Terra? (Gaige) (Solo)

I’m playing on PS4. I’m on lvl 52 and my skill tree looks like this: Best friends forever maxed out and the Little big trouble halfway through. I only want to beat the boss once on normal for the trophy. Thats all. (Don’t have PSplus so online co-op is out of question)

You can fill out your build here, then copy and paste the URL so we can see exactly what you did: http://bl2skills.com/mechromancer.html#000000000000000000000000000000000000

In terms of gear, you probably want a mixture of things that give you health recovery and efficient damage output. Some folks like to use slag bouncing betty/bonnie grenades to keep Terra as purple as possible. You can also use longbow ones; I find that Terra tends to duck if you toss homing grenades, so you can end up wasting a lot of them. Transfusion slag grenades might also work.

I usually have a Good Touch, which I use mostly for taking out tentacles and regaining health, and then something to plaster as much damage as possible when Terra is above ground. Fire is good for a lot of the time, explosive is also good (Flakker if you can master the range, or one of the fast Torgue shotties, or a Torgue with one of those minigun barrels).

One last thing: make sure you aren’t ducked in cover when you put DT out, or he’ll just stay there with you doing nothing.

Best advice- get to level 72, go back to normal and then kill him. Barring that try this:

Hail, fire Redundant Fibber, DPUH, fire Kitten and Bee with a fire BotA and slag Bouncing Betty would be my suggestions for gear along with a L. Mechromancer (I’d suggest a L. Anarchist but I think that’s a second generation class mod so you have to be at least level 61 to start getting them). If you have the BFF tree maxed out you’d barely be into the LBT tree:

What I do when soloing Terramorphous is get an on level shock storm front. Summon him and the second before he surfaces I drop 3-5 on his head. It kills him really quick. The method is a bit spammy, but it’s effective and quick for farming him.

This is all you need, really. If you also have a lvl 50 version of the Heartbreaker you’re perfectly set. The Bee isn’t needed and 400 stacks is complete overkill, but overkill is nice of course :acmwink:
I’d move one point to Buck Up since it’s pretty useful in this fight.

If you lack either of those weapons, a good Hyperion shotgun in fire element will get the job done, but you might want to go with transfusion grenades (which are unreliable) or farm up a Harold. Firing the Harold and quickly swapping to a Rubi - not mention a Grog - will heal you to full.
An excellent alternative shotgun is the Blockhead, although it can be painfully slow to farm.

Jill of All Trades COM (for the Hail), Prodigy COM, Anarchist COM, all will work well.

The only trouble is positioning, which you’ll get the hang of. The conventional wisdom is to keep your back towards the exit and vendors, but if you get downed here by one of his cheap double-swipes you might be in real trouble. If he throws you off the cliff you generally keep your stacks, so it’s a matter of choosing your poison.
If you do lose your stacks you can beat him anyway, it just takes a bit longer. Rational Anarchist and Typecast Iconoclast should get you some fresh stacks in no time and you really don’t need many at lvl 50.

When you release DT, Terra can sometimes spam his ground pound repeatedly. This makes middle range deadly, but can give you a good opportunity to charge down the guns and get some free damage in from close range, since his swipes will usually go far above your head.

If/when you get the opportunity, releasing DT when Terra has sent you flying above the map is a good option, since he’ll usually stay at that elevation for a while and draw ranged attacks far from you.

While it’s tempting to repeat my general motto for Gaige (“When in doubt, facetank”) this only holds true if you have a Hail, Heartbreaker, Kitten or similar, given Terra’s knack for hitting you hard and then going underground.
Otherwise, use available cover and build your stacks. Throw transfusions with abandon, killing his tentacles will restock you.

Like any raid Terra will seem daunting at first, but you’ll soon be surprised at how easy it is - and itching for a rematch in UVHM. Have fun.

Hi @Ninja_Mrrr,

I tried this with lots of points in Little Big Trouble, an Electric Chair and a Zapper COM, while using a Slagga to keep him slagged. Unfortunately it only caused moderate damage. Do you have any more hints on how to kill Terramorphous using this strategy?

Cheers.
