So I kinda have two simple questions… Firstly, I’ve been farming King Mong for a fire or corrosive Badaboom for a long time now, but all he seems to drop is explosive… (not sure if it’s really a questions…)
And I’ve been trying to kill Hyperius with Hellborn Krieg, but several times when I kill all his minions and he goes into rage-mode the novas from FOTF stop or never start… This seems to happen on rare occasions and it’s annoying cos I’m depending on the dmg to heal. Also I find it hard to heal when fighting Hyperius even if I have the Grog equipped…?
I think the Badaboom comes in all flavors, so just bad RNG, but you could check the wiki to make sure.
I don’t know about Hellborn Krieg strategies versus rage Hyperius, but you could always switch to the trusty bee-hawk setup with the grog to finish him off. If you’re determined to avoid that generic setup (totally understood if so) perhaps in rage mode you could switch to another nova shield as if you hit him with the nova from him breaking your shield with his first Nova, that should take you over health gate to survive his second nova, assuming you’re holding a grog, just an idea, haven’t tried it and I’m sure there’s a better way. If you’re having trouble healing with the grog, use the chain lightning grenade as it regens grenade ammo and it should take you to full health on each hit while holding the grog. I realize that makes it harder to slag, however, as you’d have to switch guns to do that as opposed to a slag grenade. I’m throwing some stuff at the wall here, maybe @xmngr or one of the other knowledgeable Krieg players could helps more.
What’s wrong with recharge rate? If it starts recharging getting to full ASAP is a good thing, no? Delay is the problematic one and I’d even argue that higher capacity from BAR can cause more problems than rate as you take longer to get to full shields again.
The problem is that OP was trying to keep Flame of the Firehawk shield novas spamming constantly for damage and health recovery (Grog etc.) Even one tick of shield regen will stop those, so you don’t want to boost recharge rate and certainly don’t want to decrease delay in your BAR perks. Putting no points in 2 or 3 shield options is tricky though, since the game then spams you with shield options when you want to assign anything.
But rate doesnt affect how long it takes for the shield to go from empty to recharging, delay does. And if you start recharging you need to go full before you can nova again so more rate is actually helpful, not harmful. At least I don’t see how it would be.
Delay is the one to stay away from. And at least the way I see it raising capacity without also raising rate is actually going to be harmful since that getting the nova shield back to full for more nova procs is just going to take longer.
I think the idea was to prevent the shield from gaining ANY charge once it was depleted, in order to keep the novas firing more or less constantly. You’re right that once the shield starts recharging, you need to get it to full before it gets depleted again. Given that BAR points may already be assigned, though, the discussion is probably moot! I’d imagine OP is going to have to look more at specific gear, build, and strategy that does not rely on FotFH.
Or- just a thought- you could just turn your BAR off for the duration of this fight?
It does seem though that I’m having a hard time doing DOTs on both Hyperius and his minions, so that could explain why it could be hard to stay on fire, which is essential for Hellborn Krieg, but I still find it weird that the shield should be starting to recharge considering I’m taking dmg a lot of the time… But perhaps I should just keep trying
I got this kind of thing with Krieg a lot. The delay with him “properly” spec’d is quite long - but nothing like the Love Thumper. Maybe 45 seconds? The delay would elapse, start to recharge and then take damage before recharging. If that happens it’s hell getting it back. I think a non-inflammable FotF helps if you keep yourself on fire - so check that.
