I’m about to play Borderlands 2 with Axton and I have this tree build already in place http://bl2skills.com/commando.html#45050155015005212000005050145051 I just was to ask if I should go down the Guerilla or Survival tree first? Also, what do you guys think of my tree?
If you’re just starting out, and that’s where you’d like to end up, just build up the bits that will help you as you level up. For example, you’ll definitely want Double Up when you start UVHM (for the slagging), but you don’t really need it in TVHM. On the other hand, which ever tree you focus in for NVHM (and to some extent TVHM), you’ll want at least some points in Preparation and Impact. You probably want enough points in Guerilla to get Scorched Earth early, but that only takes a total of 5 between Sentry and Preparation, and 5 in Willing.
When I first played Axton I went Survival first then Guerilla. Also, I’d switch Phalanx Shield for Mag Lock- placing turrets on walls and ceilings were they can still hit the enemy w/o being attacked is of great strategic value. While my OP8 Axton pretty much followed this build I later switched to a Survival/Gunpowder build with twin Nukes for my new Axton (great for shield stripping and knocking enemies out of their fighting stance, allowing you to fire at them before they recover)…
All 3 are good for normal mode, but whichever you choose to start out with hit you should make a decent investment into Gunpowder by level 50. Most of Axton’s turret skills are quite useless without Longbow, especially Gemini and Maglock, and your turret needs the added tankiness by UVHM.
Personally, going down Guerilla to grab Scorched Earth and Double-up, followed by going down Gunpowder till Longbow, is the fastest way to grab all of Axton’s ‘core’ skills. After that, diversify any way you want.
