Wow. It’s been such a long time since I came here. Anyways, while I’m away from my PS4, I am looking for a certain playstyle (the character doesn’t matter) - a high-impact hand cannon that requires accuracy as my primary weapon plus a shotgun that packs a LOT of punch for VERY close-range backup (so no HSGs because they have GREAT range).
If anyone plays Destiny, you’ll instantly recognize this as the HC+max impact shotgun meta, and I’m looking to play like this in BLTPS.
Any recommendation? Weapons/characters/skill/gear, etc. Anything will help since I forgot almost everything about this game.
For Hand Cannons grab any Jakobs pistol. Irons are the best you’ll come across for a while. But if you can find or grind a Maggie that’d also be a great pick, might have accuracy issues if you don’t have any skills or gear to boost it. The Luck Cannon is your optimal choice but it’s very rare and only found in the dlc.
Anything with a Quad Barrel is your go to very-close-range shotgun, Jakobs and Torgue in particular. But if you want one in a specific element the other manufacturers do fine. Triples barrels aren’t quite as good as Quads but they’ll be more common. Double Barrels might be longer range than you want but they’re usually a great pick too. The Flayer is a really powerful shotgun, but only found in the dlc and is also pretty hard to find, kind of like the Luck Cannon. You’ll get the Boganella off a side mission around level 16 on your first playthrough, it’s no Flayer, but it’s still pretty good and can come in elements. Definitely grab that.
Jack is pretty much always a great pick for your character no matter what build you’re aiming for. But classes are a lot more flexible in this game. Athena might not be a great choice because she’s very elemental dependent which you won’t get on a lot of the best guns for this build. Nisha has some nice synergy with low mag and Non-Elemental weapons that cover all the Jakobs gear you’ll probably end up using, but she might not be accurate in the sense you want her to be(Aimbot action skill).
Jack is the way to go, he excels at using Jakobs Quads through his kill skills. With a COM that adds +6 into Absolute Advantage and the middle capstone Leadership you can have a near infinite magazine and spam a Quad like no tomorrow, further with the right capstone Sponsored By you can apply an element to your Quad. There are videos on YT displaying how to use this build, it was pretty common when Jack was first released, probably his most effective general build.
Seriously, if you want that kind of “I have limited ammo so I need to hit my shots” fantasy youre going for, Jack is NOT the answer. He turns those weapons into super long ranged spamfests.
I think you want Wilhelm. His Targeting Scope Skill (especially when boosted) heavily rewards you for hitting your crits. Pair that with a Overload Glitched Jakobs Iron and you get your one shot one kill if you crit fantasy. The shotgun youre describing is basically your Ravagers and whatnot.
It’s not necessarily the ammo capacity that is forcing me to hit my shots, but rather the fire rate. (In Destiny, you need to take maximum 3 shots to kill, or else your TTK goes way up and you die, hence the reason I want an “accurate hand cannon” build)
But you’re right - Jack will undoubtedly let me spam spam spam for days.
The Maggie seem like your ticket here. The luck Canon will be a bit more in-theme as you will have to reload between each shots, but doesn’t really work with my next recommendations
As for the shotgun, The Sledge’s, Boganella, Ravager or Quad all fit the bill.
And I would go with Aurelia and all her damage bonuses.
