Title says it all. I was farming the loot midgets for some Bones and thought I saw a pearl in the corner of my eye. Looked around for it, but never found it. Until watched the video. Pretty sad about this as that would have been my first pearl. Happens around 2:20 in the video. Anyone else have something similar happen to them?
Ouch, hopefully it was a wanderlust or unforgiven… Still sucks just for the novelty value of getting one to drop
It’s an Avenger SMG with Bandit grip.
Looked like an SMG to me - the only pearlescent SMG is the Avenger. It definitely had a Bandit grip, a Tediore stock probably a Hyperion stock, and a Tediore sight. It also looked non-elemental, but I couldn’t identify the accessory (might be accuracy (prefix: Guaranteed), damage (prefix: Hefty), or fire rate (prefix: Brisk), because these three are represented by different attachments to the right side of the gun which I think I saw; it’s definitely not the blade, and the remaining two are represented by some sort of cover on top of the stock, which I’m fairly sure wasn’t present), and the level is not a visible part anyway.
By the way, your Unkempt Harold has a Hyperion grip. The Torgue sight is definitely beautiful, but you could get more out of it if you looked for a Harold with Torgue grip instead.
Edit: Someone was faster. That’s what happens when you step through the video frame by frame trying to spot the accessory…
Edit2: Changed the stock. The hole in the Hyperion SMG stock (which is probably present here) combined with the weird viewing angle fooled me into thinking of the Tediore laser stock from TPS, which looks completely different from the Tediore SMG stock…
Avenger
Yeah, I’ve lost a legendary in that room. Was never sure what it was, but I definitely saw among the money flying around a pistol with an orange beam falling through the floor…
The floor in that area is pretty porous… I see all kinds of ammo/money falling through all the time (even with PhysX set to low).
Ouch, that’s brutal.
I see that where tinder snowflake drops too. seen many a purple or legendary fall through the floor. and I’m on ps4 so I don’t even have a physx setting to blame:/
you are a wizard! I figure my DPUH isn’t the perfect min/max weapon, but the first time I killed savage lee at 72, he dropped this double prefix and all. it’s just so hard to rely on savage showing up, him dropping a harold, the harold have a double prefix, and it having great parts. so i took 3/4
Looks like Bandit Grip, Tediore Sight - but Maliwan Stock. Hyperion stock slants up and is not as square. You can make out the light coloured patch on the stock in one frame as its square on.
Maliwan would be my second choice, but I’m not entirely convinced. This image is taken out of the video:
As you can see, there is a black line to the right of (i.e. beneath in regular orientation) the bright spot on the stock (which I interpreted as a hole), and it’s thicker than I’d expect for the Maliwan stock, and the upper and lower edge don’t look exactly parallel to me. Here are two cheated (yes, naughty me - but they went into the abyss already) copies of that gun in the inspect screen for comparison. I tried to imitate the orientation of the dropped gun - it’s not perfect, but close enough. Hyperion stock:
Maliwan stock:
I wasn’t aware of the bright spot the Avenger (= purple Tediore) skin puts on the Maliwan stock, but the similiarity of Hyperion and Maliwan stock shapes was what prompted me to add “probably” to my stock correction. I’m still not entirely convinced it’s the Maliwan stock, but whatever. I’ll leave it at “Hyperion or Maliwan stock”, just like we can’t spot the accessory. The gun is gone anyway.
@Matt_W Savage Lee is a guaranteed spawn… and I’d probably prefer a Torgue grip over the accessory (which is the damage one for me as I find the double projectile one too ammo-hungry). But if it’s killing things fine and you can’t be bothered to look for another one, it’s good enough. I just mentioned it because there are many people who don’t know parts and thus call any Harold with the double projectile accessory a “perfect” one when that’s simply not true.
When it’s square on the square light patch is more prominent. And it’s the general squareness (a word now) of the Maliwan and shading. The Hyperion has those segment lines and a smaller hole where the square area is.
I love this part spotting…makes the game awesomely geeky

I like the double prefix with maya bc more pellets=more chain reaction. But it’s usually my secondary weapon anyway as I like to have one shock/fire/corrosive gun as my main depending on the enemies. In the WEP it varies so much I just stick with explosive or my corrosive lyuda for those far away enemies.
But you’re a wizard still! with those stats i’m sad i missed it
Anyone else have something similar happen to them?
yep, lost a good 8 if not more through the floor over the years, not counting the junk they also drop
Rage Quit!
Yup. Same thing happened to me in the same area, although I have no idea what gun it was because I only saw the top half of the beam after the weapon had gone through the floor.
My friend and I lost an OP8 Storm through the floor in the treasure room/area of Digistruct Peak. Not cool, as it somehow made its way to the chasm on the opposite side of the wall and was unreachable. Of course the two greens and one blue I also dropped at the same time were neatly on the ground next to the chasm…
As much as I dislike how underwhelming the gameplay of Destiny is gearbox could take a pointer or two from their much more user-friendly system for loot.
The fact that if you miss gear in Destiny by simply not seeing it or it falls over a cliff Etc that it still ends up in your mailbox to loot later is something that should be implemented in any shoot and loot type game but Borderlands especially. With how rare pearlescent and legendaries are in comparison to Destiny you would think that there was some sort of Fail-Safe for crap like that.
Additionally I think there should be a collectible system in the next Borderlands release where you can literally get a legendary or pearlescent one time and be able to remake it on any of your characters for some nominal cost of in-game currency. That would be a huge upgrade to the current system. The fact that you have to farm multiples of any weapon if you want one for each character is a bit Overkill and unnecessary.
I really am a much bigger fan of Borderlands than Destiny but in this way and only in this way the destiny franchise is superior. It is otherwise completely inferior to Borderlands in just about every way
Hmmm,
can’t figure out why it says “1 Year Later” above your post when its more Like 1year 6 months
on Topic
it does still happen to me, Just have to watch where you drop gear or kill stuff,
I’ve found waiting on the loot midgets in the WEP farm to run out of the room Helps with the lost items through the floor in that area
D2 is completely inferior to Borderlands in every way
Fixed
Now D1’s Loot system was Good
This happened to me once and i get out of bounda and got it in the area below the loot midgets.
