My BL2 Experience

I just started playing Borderlands 2. I just killed Capt. Flint so I can go with Clap Trap to his boat. But he just sits at the entrance to the crane and calls me to come to him. When I go to him nothing happens and when I go to the boat hanging on the crane nothing happens. He doesn’t follow me. Am I doing something wrong? Is there something else I need to do? Can someone give me a hand here?

After killing Capt Flynt Claptrap should call you over to him and unlock the door to the rear where his boat is. Once he goes onto his boat, talk to him to close that mission and activate the access to the next stage…

I had a game a while back where Claptrap simply would not leave the lift. Had to restart and slog through the Flynt fight again!

That is the problem. He won’t go onto his boat. After I killed Capt Flint, Claptrap went to the entrance of a little tunnel where there were boxes full of money and ammo etc. inside. On the other side of the little tunnel is his boat. But he doesn’t go through the tunnel to his boat. He just sits at the entrance of the little tunnel calling for me. Nothing I do gets his attention at that point.

That is another question. Is there no way to start the game where you left off? Or do you always have to start at the beginning of the level? In this case it’s Liars Berg. It takes me 45 minutes to kill all the boss bad guys again and get back to the ship so that I can see whether or not Claptrap is going to respond to me.

Unfortunately not. In every level you’ll always down at the fast travel with all enemies respawned if you quit back to the main menu. It’s actually a good system one you understand it’s limitations and stops the old ‘save every 2 feet’ strategy though.

On the plus side more killing = more XP, more loot and more experience playing the game. I’d wager you’ll be able to knock that 45 minutes down to 30 or less in no time.

What character are you?

Also, you only need to kill Capt Flynt- if you can run past everyone else, do so…

After re-starting the game and slogging through all the areas again I finally got back to where Claptrap had been but he was no longer there. He was on his boat and everything seems to be working ok now. Thanks for all your help and input!

Yeah that Claptrap is a slippery weasel! Shame you can’t shoot him! :frowning:

LOL…yeah!

Another question. In the game you are given a mission to find four hidden echo recordings for Tannis. One of the recordings is in a metal wagon. Can you please tell me how to get that recording. I’ve tried everything I can think of. The other three were relatively easy and I thought that one of them would tell me how to get the last one out of the wagon but they didn’t.

Shoot the hanging varkid pods in the wagon- that will cause the rear door to fall down and you can collect the ECHO…

Or do what I used to do: Open the ammo crate and hold pickup - the range on that thing is nuts!

Thank you, that worked!

Ok I need some more help if you can please. I managed to kill the warrior in TVHM. I got the mission from Mordecai to kill the DJ so I could get the Bee Shield. I watched Yoteslaya’s video on how to do it. But of course I got killed the first time so I did the alt-F4 thing to go back because that’s what Yoteslaya said to do. The first three times I killed him he didn’t drop the bee. The fourth time I did it the game did not take me back to “Kill the DJ”. It took me to “Turn In”. So my question is; how do I get back to the point where I can kill this guy and get the shield? Or am I just out of luck? I would hate to think I’m the only gamer in the world that can’t get the Bee Shield off this guy.

Turn it in. HH is a farmable character- anytime you fight him after turning in the mission he has a chance to drop a Bee. Far better, however, would be playing the Tiny Tina dlc Assault on Dragon Keep. One of the areas- The Forest of Getting Eaten Alive By Trees, aka The Forest- has enemies called treants that drop the Bee at a far higher rate than Hunter Helquist. You don’t even need to complete the dlc, just that particular area’s mission…

Ok I’ll give that a shot and see what happens. Tks

Tks, that worked. After going back three or four times I finally got a bee. Will he continue to drop Bees if I keep going back? Mine is kind of wimpy.

Yes, he will. Not every time, but you should average out to about 1 in 10 drops. You’ll find the Bee is always a bit wimpy in the capacity category anyway, just because the amp damage effect is so good. Running a Bee shield is always a trade off between shield capacity and amped damage. There are plenty of other good shields out there that you can use in different ways, so don’t be afraid to try other things too.

I’d also note that you shouldn’t spend too much time farming gear in TVHM before heading into UVHM, as if you’re much higher than level 52 when you start UVHM that level 50 gear is going to be painful to use in pretty short order.

Just a heads-up: If you have the Tiny Tina DLC, it’s an arguably faster farm for the Bee. In UVHM, though, Hunter Hellquist is a good source to check, since you might also encounter tubbies/chubbies on that map.

Bee is powerful, but don’t let yourself get spoiled by it. I’d recommend not using it unless you find yourself struggling with a particular boss.
