I CLASS ANY RED CHEST THAT ARE WELL HIDDEN AND/OR IS HARD TO GET TO, A “DEV CHEST”, EXAMPLE: IN THE “VAULT OF THE WARRIOR” THERE IS A CHEST HIDDEN DOWN THE LAVA FALL JUST BEFOR THE BRIDGE/WALKWAY/TUNNEL,

So I was once on my way to fight jack and the warrior, and decided to go and have a look at the dev chest, and it was my lucky day!
I got “Sledges Shotgun” first try no joke, alone side a Rare SMG I think. Funny thing is, is that it’s not the only time this has happened to me.
I have got SS from that chest twice (first try each time)
Along with other very rare items.

So I have started up this form so we can have chats about “Dev chest”,
“Rules” are simple: so long as it involves “Dev chests” it’s all good (by MY standards) on here

I do have some questions…
Is there a official name for them?
Are they special in anyway when it comes to loot?
Do they have Better “drop”(I know that they don’t drop guns lol) rate?

So apart from that, what do YOU have say about Dev chests?

Some seem it give better loot than others, the one in Sawtooth in Guano Grotto and the one in the Warrior vault you mention have always been good to me and I would farm that Sawtooth one a bit when I was leveling. I got a Maggie out of the hidden one in the lower area of the outer Torgue Arena once, but never anything close to that after so I think that was just random luck.

Very nice, I haven’t got a lot of legendary guns from the Vault one but I have been farming it today and I have got a number of E-TECH guns.
Some purple, at least 1 blue about 90% of the time some greens, and white only when it comes to relics

I don’t know of an official name for them, and don’t believe they’re special in any way when it comes to loot, but if you want to call them Dev chests, knock yourself out. I might call the Golden Chest a Dev chest because it seems to fit your definition on all counts except that it’s not hidden, or maybe the mission rewards from Geary’s Quest (one of which seems to have purple-rarity gear whenever I open it, and they are very well hidden).

The last two red chests that I found that I hadn’t noticed before were the one on top of the platform in Slappy’s pond, and the one on top of the structure over Eridium Pump Station #3 in the Arid Nexus Boneyard (both spotted at a little over 3300 hours), but that’s more because I had never been to those areas myself than by dint of their obscurity or difficulty in reaching. Actually, the one on top of the Eridium Pumping Station can be reached without grenade jumping, but I don’t think it’s an obvious path.

I guess the reason that I (an others) call them Dev chests is because they are in place that would seem almost impossible to get to in normal ways.
And I’ll have to go looking for the chest you saud about.

I think he means the one on the ledge off the mini-map behind the female varkid miniboss that you can get to from the tracks going behind the bandit camp

The one by the Warrior is easy enough to get to, but because you have to die or quit to get out of there, I’d put this one in the list. I’m trying to think of ones that are hard to get to (and not just well hidden), as in, you must grenade jump or something to get to them. For example, the chest on the far side of the broken bridge just outside of Ardorton Station in Hunter’s Grotto; not only is that grenade jump material, it’s tricky to pull off anyway.

There are some ammo chests that are definitely grenade-jump only material or are otherwise incredibly well hidden. There’s a lock box stuck up in a tree in Aegris, for example.

Yeh the chest is an easy FLEET skip and a jump.

@Flood - Just Red Chest. Even the wiki refers to it as that.

I’ve hit that one a lot. Haven’t gotten anything great from it yet.

I’ve tried to get the chest on the bridge a couple of times,but I messed the jump and can’t be bothered trying again, just coz I’m trying to get though the DLC, not a bug fan of that one…

Try the one in Guano Grotto in Sawtooth (on the little platform in the middle), that’s the best return I’ve got on any “normal” red chest bar the one by the Warrior and I hate re-setting or dying there.
