Top-tier defensive shield on Axton?

What is the absolute best shield for defense? The only issue is that it can’t be from Tiny Tina, Ham’s Hunt, or ultimate upgrade pack 2. I love the Cracked Sash so far, but a Neogenator seems just as good with a 1.48 recharge delay. I’d be wearing a Shield boosting Skin of Ancients.

The best is a Blockade. Second is an Antagonist. They’re both from Tina’s. Excluding that, I’d probably go with a purple Turtle or booster shield.

If you’re going to consider a neogenator you may also want to look into an evolution shield from the pirate DLC. Fairly similar to the neo. “absolute best” would depend heavily on the skill build your running.

as @UNLO4D3D247 says depends on the particular build your using and also what your wanting done in the game. I agree with @Handsome_Dad , the Blockade and Antagonist are very good, and I also run with the Sham and specific Bees (depends fire or Corrosive), there are a couple of others I use from time to time (Blackhole is one), but those are the 4 main I run with.

I would go for purple turtles with maliwan elemental immune part and other parts bandit.

The BBB shield - Big Boom Blaster aka Best Backup Bonus. Most underrated defensive shield for Axton and also on Maya aswell. They both have very good bonuses for shield stats. With proper parts this shield can outmatch Blockade, Antagonist and any other defensive shield. I’ve done lots of runs with it and survive mostly because this shield. Plus its also very good utility shield. +1 grenade and +1 rocket regen on every booster what you drop and pickup, And we all know how important are nades on Axton.

+1 for the Big Boom Blaster, especially for Axton.

+1 for the Sham. It is near to God-mode in bullet areas with minimal splash damage.

Pick up Tiny Tina’s if you want the “best” shield. The Blockade is a serious piece of kit. The Antagonist doesn’t suck either.

I’ll have to try one with my new Axton- usually when I get one I tend to sell it…

When you consider the fact that it gives him infinite transfusion grenades with his grenade damage bonuses, I’d be inclined to agree.

I’m a sucker for the BBB, as well. It has become my go-to for Maya. If you factor in the free singularity grenades, it becomes the best defensive option she has. The Blockade is better passive defense, but the BBB is more of a game changer if you’re on it.

Infinite transfusions… Damn. That’s nice. Do you know the lowest possible recharge delay for the highest booster %?

Highest booster chance is 22.1% with a delay of 4.03.

The lowest delay is 1.93 with a booster chance of 18.0%

From the Max Stats list.

I use a BBB with a Maliwan capacitor for a DOT immunity and two other Hyperion parts.

Gives about 1.4 mil capacity with a 150 K rate with a 2.35 delay and a 19.3 booster.

I’m greedy so I go with Grounded for shock DOT immunity. Getting a fire or corrosive DOT while the shield is up will usually spawn several boosters (I want that ammo!). A more dangerous method but like I said, I’m greedy. :acmcheese:

That is very good explanation how this shield works and why its so good. I also use Maliwan capacitor for Electric DOT immunity. And same like you I want to catch DOT for boosters to drop. But rest of my shield parts are Pangolin. I have 1.8 mil capacity with 5 sec delay and 19.1 booster. I use Pangolin on other parts because I want to reach as high as possible capacity without loosing much booster chance. Because every point of shield has chance to drop booster, also every booster is about ~25% max capacity. So higher capacity = higher chance for booster drop. Because boosters won’t drop if shield is depleted and enemies are doing damage that can destroy low capacity shields instantly.

When you talk about specific parts like this, are you modding the shields to make them this way or do you spend days farming them? I’ve spent a lot of hours going through the forest of being eaten alive by trees to farm Bee shields at various levels and not once have I gotten an element immune version. We’re talking probably 20 of them between level 72 and OP3 where I am now. Do those only come from hunter? I stopped farming him. The giant trees seem to have much higher drop rates.

I use the Bee almost exclusively because of the damage boost and fast recharge. I have 5 points in willing and my BA bonus decreases delay by an additional 15% so it makes it an actually useable combat shield. When I play on a level where I don’t have access to the Bee, I use whatever I can find with a short delay and fast recharge. Capacity doesn’t seem to make much of a difference on UVHM. Most enemies with kill your shield in 1 or 2 hits anyway.

At first I farmed all my gear. It was part of the fun. That was a long time ago. That ship has sailed.

I still enjoy both story mode and general mobbing, but I’m not dumping any time into farming anymore.

So, when I magically pull a new item out of my butt, it will usually have specifically selected parts to meet my needs the best. I experiment with this alot, tweeking a part here or there to so what I like best on which character with what skill build.

A lot of these guys use gibbed. As someone who doesn’t, I look for better parts to upgrade existing farmed gear. I’m with you, though. The only element resist Bee I’ve ever pulled was OP6, and I’ve run the Forest an obscene number of times.

I know I’ve pulled a Grounded Bee form The Forest once- I also think I got a Blast Proof Fabled Tortoise from the loot train as well (not sure how hard those are to come by though…).

Really? I’ve gotten more than a few elemental ones from the Forest @ OP 8. I usually played with two others, though, so that might have had something to do with it.

Yup. Not one. I’ve had multiple runs where I’ve pulled 3 Bees, and have yet to catch any OP8 resistance Bees. :sob:
