Do you find Axtons turrets at op8 seriosuly overpowered?

I used a leg engineer, speced into sentry, rockets, slag turret, turret sheild, maglock and 2 turrets.

During the bloodwing fight, I never fired at her once, the turrets absolutely destroyed her.

Usually I play a non action skill based Axton, tried this build today and was highly unsatisfied, no challenge :(. Its so powerful its beyond belief.

I don’t like switching weapons to slag individual enemies as there are so many its annoying for me. The magic missile with slag turret I think is the way to go to make it more balanced for me.

I don’t think I have ever heard anyone say that to be honest, If anything, most people think the turrets should be buffed.

In other situations, they tend to be overwhelmed and get destroyed easily, and since you poured most of your resources in them, Axton tends to become a sitting duck when that happens.

You should probably test that build in many different situations, to see what its weaknesses and strengths are (Obviously it seems to be great against flying bosses)
Some of the most impressive builds I have made over the years were simply unusable because they fell flat in specific scenarios.

Hopefully you stumbled onto something great that, while you might not personally enjoy playing, might be just what someone else is looking for.

Also, could you post your build using this: http://bl2skills.com/commando.html#00000000000000000000000000000000

So that we can all see exactly what you did

I kind of have to disagree with chuck(this doesn’t happen often). Sure there not op but, unless there hugely overwhelmed they’ll last a decent amount of time. I run an explosive/turret build. The shield does barely anything but, does add an extra few hits to the life span. If your run 2 of them there even better
but, may lower your dps over a hybrid build.
Most definitely test your build against everything:bots, bandits, wildlife, and some bosses

You are probably right: I was just going by what people were saying in the “last patch” thread.
My experience with Axton is limited, but I have seen one of my turrets destroyed from a single shield swing from a badass nomad. Maybe they scale better later…

I honestly think that the turrets are fine. The problem with their damage output is Double Up. Without it, the turret fires non-elemental shots which receive the full 3X bonus from Slag. With Double Up however, they fire Slag rounds that do not receive that multiplier. So long as you do not pick Double Up and slag enemies yourself, the turret’s damage output is fine IMO.

If your interested watch this video by demonite.

@Eel37 is right taking double up lowers the turrets damage but, gives free slag. Its basically a matter of it you want to slag and swap or not.

I also agree with @Piemanlee , the turrets while not quite OP are true work horses, and most times (I use mag lock) they last most if not all of the time out.
I’ve thrown them out for the last boss of Digistruct and he concentrates on them like a Badass Skag that has a midget pshyco cornered in a hole and has yet to destroy them.

They really do shine against omgwth, throw them out and use cover and its almost a 100% success rate.

This is my Axton build, I currently use the ranger mod, and exclusively use the ogre. The ogre is my new favourite weapon :), it absolutely destroyed the bunker, bee was on.

That was the same build I used against bloodwing but with the engineer mod and the turrets were just doing obscene amounts of damage to her. When she lands, just throw down the turrets and watch what happens
I think its just that fight or the change in mod, because I used ranger against bunker and nothing :frowning: It was all me and my ogre, “Its all ogre now”.

Well the bunker does have a lot more health and flys all over the map.

Yer, longbow, phalanx and maglock work wonders, but placing the turret on the floor, they get destroyed.

I waited to throw the turrets down until he comes stand still.

Well still he has at least 3 times the health I’d guess.

I always go for double up, I don’t slag and switch, as I find it easier and more relaxing. Of course I use the magic missle, except with sal, I spam quasars with him)

For me, that’s why I only really play sal, maya, and axton.

sal, harry, grog (lots of slag  without switching.)

maya (phaselock, ruin (automatic slag :))

axton (double up, automatic slag)

He is a tank, I was so surprised though how good the ogre worked on him. His health went relatively quick, he only did 2 stand stills in the fight. He then went to the top where he throws out the loot, where you just have to shoot him once and its officially over

I found jacks body double harder to beat, damn he just runs off all-over the place then loads of enemies start spawning :frowning:

I don’t find the turrets overpowered at all, but I definitely throw side eye when I read that they suck. I’ve been using Double Up + Gemini for a long time, and these things are incredibly valuable for me. The only place where they both go down consistently is against the snowman, and that’s not a problem.

They help me control Invincible Craw, Pete, Hyperius, Orc Dukes, Rabids of all types, Jackenstein, Dukino’s Mom, Assassins, 2x Saturns, etc. Aaannnndddd, they maintain slag while they’re also drawing aggro. When I use them right, they give me a lot of time to pour on damage. They also help a lot against surveyors.

Great assets.

I think it was just bloodwing you no. I didn’t see what it did to her against any other bosses, mini bosses.
