E-tech Snipers Critical Hit Guide

There has been a lot of talk over the years of E-tech Snipers and critical hits, so I made a video to show it and break it down.

But because this is the forums I’ll also lay it out here.

  • Yes they crit
  • Yes they have the same 100% sniper bonus
  • But they also have a 100% type C penalty

So how does this look in the formula?

Gun Damage x 2 x (1 + 100% + type A critical hit bonus) x (1 + type B critical hit bonus) / (1 + 100%).

For more on that formula go here [Guide] Critical hit bonus sources (BL2 version)

Now what does that 100% type C penalty mean?

  • All of your critical hit bonuses will be cut in half.
  • It negates the sniper 100% bonus completely so this without buffs crits more like a normal pistol or smg than a sniper.

That makes these really bad on any character with a lot of crit buffs, like zer0, but not as bad on others. Although I still don’t care for them with damage vs ammo consumption.

There are also some enemies where they have been reported that the crit does not work.

  • Pyro Pete
  • Powder Monekys barrels

If there are more you know of let me know and I’ll add them.

Of all the gun types in the game and of all the bad weapon type/Manufacturer matches, E-tech snipers are by far, the worst balanced guns in the game. It sucks because they look cool and sound great.

What’s even more sad is they aren’t really even good in early levels because your ammo pool is so small and the ammo cost of them is so high.

Sal is really the only class that can do well with railers. He can negate the aforementioned ammo consumption problem that really holds them back.

I like the Moloko and Hybridification on Sal. Sure you’ll do better overall with normal snipers, but they are just so cool that I use them on some allegiance builds I enjoy.

The 100% type c also transfers over which is really bad for sal. That would make a lady fist back down to 400% pre loothunt.

Meh, I use the railers on allegiance builds, so my offhand moxxi is a slag kitten or slow-hand.

The Moloko is has a massive fire rate, burning through a big mag in a flash. If you’re on target stuff generally melts.

The Hybridification is really accurate and much much slower. Personally, the first time I split two psychos in half with one shot I was hooked.

They’re not great, just fun.
