Are Gemstones worth it?

I was thinking of Farming Buttstalion @ OP 8. I’m just wondering if there are any Gemstone weapons that are worth farming for.

They come with a mild bullet reflection chance (fun but not strategically significant, I think) and a higher crit damage (which is). If you like using a weapon that’s got a gemstone equivalent, you have to decide if the, what, 7% (?) crit modifier is worth it.

The bonuses themselves are really minor but every bit helps. However, that increase in performance is very minor and getting the stuff you really want can easily drive you nuts. Sniper Rifles for example are by far her rarest drops so getting a very specific one from her can be considered one of the most difficult tasks on Pandora.

That said, the skins are absolutely gorgeous. Citrine and Garnet are my favorites and I am looking for an Elemental Garnet Anarchist, Citrine Coach Gun and Aquamarine Snider.

For power alone it’s really not worth but if you just want something to treasure, something pretty to look at… it’s probably still not worth but the satisfaction from finally getting something awesome… too good!

As someone who dwells in OP8 for quite some time and burnt 500 Eridium for Buttstallion more than five times I say it’s not worth it considering most of Gemstone weapons you will get are not top gear (or at least viable in a sense that you do not try to heal yourself too often because the gun does not do enough damage to kill anything). So, unless you are playing in OP3 or below, just put your Eridium somewhere else. Legendaries from Buttstallion are also mostly better farmed somewhere else due to random Legendary and low drop rate compared to 1/10 chance in each boss, even if the boss have multiple items in the pool.

These are the only Eridium sinks in the game, right? (after you’ve bought out Crazy Earl for parts)

  • Buttstallion
  • Tiny Tina’s Slots
  • Raid bosses
  • Treasure Syringes

Is there anywhere else to spend them?

Altars, but those are negligable.

If it’s me I’d farm Terra without save quitting (requires constant Eridium, but Terra also drop some), the dice chests, and treasure syringes. I’m too allergic to slot machines.

Oh yeah… those Eridium shrines that give you temporary little buffs (ammo refill, fast run speed, health regen, etc.)

I frequently stop at Butt Stallion to burn off 300-400 when I cap out. I rarely get anything I’ll use long term, but I occasionally pull something like the Citrine (Doc’s) Coach Gun with Jakobs grip that I’m currently using with Sal as an alternate to the ROM. Garnett Anarchists are great. A purple rarity, gemstone Casual Ravager is awesome. Gemstone snipers can be very strong.

Spending a few minutes and an effortlessly renewable resource on random possible drops is worth it, to me.

Hmm, Looking at this and doing some research, the only thing I may actually attempt to get is a Gemstone Slag Dart, preferably DVA, Twin, Binary or Redundant.

Those can’t take advantage of the crit multiplier though… what are you looking for in a skinned version?

Darts can’t crit at all. Also, I believe you can’t get anything but Diamond Darts or Spikers from Butt Stallion as Gemstones.

Not really. Only reason I have the ones I do (rock Ravager, garnet Anarchist and Droog, aquamarine Snider, etc) is because I’m constantly maxed out on eridium and have nothing better to do with it. So I make pitstops when I’m full and dump off all of it until I’m at ~100 or so.

Edit: they do look nice though lol

there is those Dice Chests in Tiny Tina’s DLC, though I’ve quit spending on those as I never get anything good from them

Same as you here. I think if a player really needs to dump those eridiums it’s a sign that the player has very few things left to do in the game. If it’s about getting that one piece of gear, sooner or later the player will realize the grinding is not that important, and left the game (happens to me few times, I usually come back just to enjoy playing the game and not chasing after a piece of gear I haven’t found, the Bekah).

Yeah…I’m doing that now with the Norfleet, though there are a few others I want. I should play other characters out more instead of just dabbling.
