Anyone actually seen a luneshine weapon drop from a boss?

I see that message in the loading screen, and I’ve put in my fair share of hours, but I’ve never had it happen. It must be extremely rare, assuming it’s not bugged or something.

I have never seen it either. I’m guessing it’s bugged as well.

It has not happened to me either. I purposely farmed Rabid Adams as I was under the impression the Marek’s Mouth can spawn with luneshine. It never happened for me. I might start that back up again.

Im pretty sure i got a luneshine version of mareks mouth from rabid adams. But i never got any other luneshine weapons from bosses. I thought they were exclusive to the grinder and moonstone chests.

I’ve never seen the Marek’s Mouth in general, so I have no idea if that can be luneshine or not. According to the loading screen tip though, bosses do have a chance to drop luneshine weapons.

I remember this topic arising quite a while ago. And Rabid Adams was the focus of said discussion in regards to “dropable luneshined weapons”. Marek’s Mouth was the only weapon mentioned as the possibility iirc. Which is why I started farming Rabid Adams to begin with. I wanted proof that luneshined gear can drop in game w/out the need to grind it. Also, the luneshine that spawns on the Marek’s Mouth I believe is specific to the weapon itself. I don’t think it adds any ability, I think its just texture(skin).

I think that it is impossible to find luneshine weapons outside Grinder and moonstone chests. I had a few times Marek’s Mouth but never saw luneshine on it.

I wonder if we can get an official word from one of the GBX people on here. It seems strange that they would have that message on the loading screens if it’s not possible. Then again, this game has had its fair share of bugs, so they may have intended for it to be possible, but it’s glitched or something.

It isn’t an isolated issue, there are quite a few misleading loading screen tips in the Borderlands franchise, mainly in the first Borderlands and in the Pre-Sequel. There are even two contradictory tips about Claptrap’s elemental resistances (there is one that erroneously says that Claptrap is weak to fire like all the other vault hunters, and one that actually says that he’s weaker to corrosion and resistant to fire).

Honestly, I just think that they originally intended luneshine weapons to be able to drop from bosses, but when they scrapped the idea, they forgot/weren’t able to modify the tip.

I ran Rabid Adams quite a bit last night. Got 5 Marek’s to drop. 2 of which were level 70. None with luneshine. I did find out that it doesn’t matter if you harm the tork before trying to kill Rabid Adams. I got the Marek’s Mouth to drop on both scenarios. So that myth has been cleared up for me at least.

At this point I am leaning toward the Marek’s Mouth SMG with luneshine being gibbed. :no_mouth: I would love to be wrong about this.

Could be. That wasn’t what I was pointing out. I have seen this SMG in game. It was dropped by a random while co-oping. So I have seen this SMG with the luneshine. That is what I mean by “it might be gibbed”.

Im almost positive the first mareks mouth that dropped for me had that luneshine effect on it. Maybe one of the patches made it glitch out and it doesn’t drop with the luneshine anymore. Or its just super rare. Im very curious and am going to try farming for it with the luneshine.

Do you remember at what game mode and what lvl the weapon was?

Pretty sure it was my first playthrough. And what ever level it can drop at that point in the game.

I got a Marek’s Mouth to drop, but it’s regular.

Ive been farming for it and all i have been getting are regular versions. So maybe the luneshine version is bugged and doesnt drop at the moment or is super super rare. I will keep trying though when I get the time to play.

Same here. It’s a fun run however. So I don’t mind keeping at it.
