OP Buzzards (Sawtooth)

These buzzards are very tough. Don’t doubt, go kill a couple and see. They’re way OP.

Yep.

Thanks, but I don’t see a Buzzard sticky.

That’s because there isn’t one. Most of us “old-timers” know Buzzards are a PITA and how to deal with them. If you’re looking for character specific strategies, go ask in the character’s subforum and we’ll be glad to help out.

Thanks old timer. I am an old timer. I’m saying there’s an unintended imbalance. It’s not just a PITA.

Challenge: Take your untwincked 48-ish toon to Sawtooth and kill the Buzzards. I submit, they’re way OP. Not just OP, but unintentianally over powered. Something was missed in testing.

Just to clarify, but old-timers I meant those of us who have put more than a few hours in. I’m over 2k and there are some around here who put in 3 times or more in.

All of the vehicles in the game are unbalanced, but you find ways around it. The best VH to deal with Buzzards is to use a Pimp unless you’re Gaige, then it’s a Fibber and aim underneath them at the ground. As long as you can stay ahead of their health regen, they’re really not that hard; it’s when they fly behind a building or a mountain and heal that they become a real PITA.

I can kill them with an Ogre while playing Krieg on OP 8 provided they don’t fly somewhere I can’t get to them and heal up. If they do, then I pull out my Badaboom.

Just for clarification… Your char is around level 48, and you’re in TVHM, correct? Any corrosive gun should do the trick.

I’m fond of the Hornet… not least because it’s a lot easier to acquire than the Pimp. The burst fire is very useful in case you don’t hit every shot, extra deadly if you do. In UVHM slagging them is helpful too. I’ve also made good use of a Lyuda.

If I’m struggling I sometimes resort to a Bee for non-Bee-dependent classes. Though it’s terribly pleasing when I manage to get them with a thrown buzz axe.

Conference Call here

Aside from the typical flying enemy annoyance, they’re pretty easy to deal with.

If you think they’re over-powered in TVHM, just wait until you see them in UVHM…

I’ll second the other responses though - they’re not that bad if you have a decent corrosive weapon. You want one with a decent fire rate and quick reload that doesn’t require you to lead the targets significantly. Tina’s Teapot would probably be under-levelled by 48, but there are plenty of corrosive weapons you can get that will get the job done. Absent a decent Hornet or Teapot, I like a fast corrosive plasma caster or SMG. There are some other good suggestions listed above. The absolute best solution IMO is a Flakker, but the learning curve on those is steep. If you nail the distance, though, it will totally wreck those TVHM Buzzards.

Edit to add: aim for the pilot and/or engines for maximum damage.

Vladof Anarchists are great as well- even a non-corrosive one can do the job if you hit the pilot or engines…

I just use any Hyperion or bandit shotgun I can find. Buzzards are a pita just wait till uvhm like vh101 said.

My favourite way to kill flying enemies is the Hive. Shoot twice in the air above you to deal with winged foes while you deal with ground dwellers.

Truly, you could just punch them down, like the champion of champions

Maya wrecks buzzards, you don’t even need a corrosive weapon her cloud kill takes care of them easily actually the ones in sawtooth don’t give me problems the ones in tundra express piss me off sometimes they come out of nowhere while you’re doing the pod injection mission and shoot you into ffyl but then you have varkids around to get SW so then they’re dead
