The Bee with Axton? Nah

I always thought that the Bee with Axton wouldn’t bee that great (see what i did there) but apparently it’s top-tier gear. How come? That recharge delay and capacity is brutal. I’m using a Ravager, Kerblaster, Badaboom, and DPUH, by the way.

It’s because Axton is one of the few VHs who can keep it charged most of the time. That and the Bee isn’t used for its capacity, it’s used for its amp damage. If you’re expecting the Bee to keep you alive, you’re using the wrong shield.

The goal is to kill before you’re even shot at. The Bee only works when it’s at 100% capacity. And it’s synergy with Axton is also spec and gear dependent. I can tell you right now that only one of your guns works well with the Bee. The Bee is powerful, but really it only becomes worth it while mobbing at higher levels if you prioritize the right weapons.

I.E. I’d never use it with a Ravager, but a Sandhawk, Lady Fist, ect… yes please.

Pretty much. Though as Khim said, out of your loadout, only the DPUH really gets any benefit from it. I’d go with something else, like a Blockade, instead.

Heck its my go to shield for axton.

Btw Adam the bee isnt the best shield for an explosive action for that build I’d either use a blockade or big boom blaster

I’d say only use it if your turrets or grenades aren’t being used for slagging. Its a good shield don’t get me wrong.

Because of his shield skills, Axton is probably the only character who can effectively use the Bee while mobbing, but it is an offensive shield and not very good for defense. It’s very good with Gemini, non-explosive and more defensive builds, but you better make sure you kill everything fast and use cover constantly. I really like using it in those cases. It makes a lot of enemies incredibly easy to kill and it’s my go to shield when farming regular bosses. Still, I agree completely with the others who said you’re better off using the Blockade or the Big Boom Blaster with other types of builds.

For me when I’m running the 26-15-26 build I use the bee. When I’m running my explosive build I use blockade or bbb. Honestly explosive builds have enough damage without it, but on some bosses you may need it. It does synergiz well with the dpuh.

So a BBB is an extremely good shield for an exlosive Axton? i am planning to ise that shooting star grenade. the seraph Bonus Package.

Its good because it drops rockets and grenades instead of regular shield boosters. Do you mean the metor shower or bonus package?

Same here. Agreed on everything.

It’s only alright as a defensive shield, but it’s almost a necessity when your build and playstyle is focused heavily on grenade usage (like when you’re running a Fastball Axton). Let’s put it this way: The Bee is an offensive shield, the Blockade is a defensive shield and the BBB is a utility shield.

Seriously, if you have a decent Bee, Blockade and BBB you’re never gonna need another shield on Axton, unless you wanna try something else just for fun. There are a lot of shields that synergize very well with him (he’s just really good with shields in general), but in my personal humble opinion, those are the big three for the commando.

Iirc those three are all top gear on the top gear thread. Besides gaige (gosh it hurts me to say that) he’s the beat shield user in the game.
