I don't enjoy Gaige

I’m playing as Gaige and I just… meh?

I’m about level 20 and I don’t really feel like player her anymore. Am I doing it wrong?

I’ve tried the main anarchy builds and it’s just not fun to me. I wasn’t a big fan of the electrical/BFF tree either.

Should I try to ride it out or go with someone else?

You got to lvl 20 so at least you gave it a shot. Maybe try playing without anarchy since you don’t really need it until uvhm. If not than do what you want.

I’ll edit in that I also tried without anarchy, favoring BFF skills.

Thanks.

I’d suggest just starting someone else, but leaving your Gaige save in case you ever want to try again. You can have a fairly ridiculous number of different saves within the game, so you’re not gaining anything by deleting a character.

If she isn’t clicking with you, I’d say try someone else. The point of having multiple classes, after all, is you pick the one that feels the best for you to play.

The “worst” part is that I’m pretty sure I just want to play Zer0, but I already started him (it?) on a playthrough with my friend. I might just play the commando until he’s caught up with my Zer0, then switch over.

Sounds like a plan.

Not at all.

Sounds like she just isn’t for you.

Definitely jump ship and play someone you will enjoy.

Thanks everyone in this thread.

I think my problem is that I prefer sustained, accurate damage… preferably from range.

Or even to wade through combat like a viking berserker with a great axe/sword, but that’s less of an option in this game unless I want to play a weird psycho build.

Gaige is not that at all.

Or… You can have two Zero’s! One for Co-op and one for solo. Then you can have a melee Zero and a Sniper Zero for Co-op, and same for solo. And then… You get the idea, don’t you!

Gaige takes some figuring out before you really start appreciating her. But once that happens, you can have a lot of fun with her. I recently built a Gaige for Melee. It’s something that I can really recommend. At level 20, you should be getting to the “Rakkaholics Anonymous mission” pretty soon. If you turn the mission in to Moxxi, whe will give you the Rubi. Combine this gun with a nova shield and put 5/5 in Blood Soaked Shields, and you’re ready to rock.

An Eviscerating Rubi will do more damage, but any version will do for now. Since it’s melee and since it heals you, the level of it doesn’t matter. You can also go with a roid shield for more melee damage, but then you’d miss out on all the wonderful novas.

Eventually, this build works at it’s peak with the Hide of Terramorphous and an Eviscerating Grog Nozzle. Close distance to enemy while slagging - Shield strip - Nova - Massive melee bonus - Kill - BSS kicks in with full shields… If you also have Sharing is Caring, you and Deathtrap can both beat up on the same enemy at the same time. Life’s beautiful! :sunglasses:

This is also a VERY powerful build for mobbing, btw!

Just wanted to chip in that I really do not like playing her either. I got to level 45, I’ve respecced and tried a bunch of stuff, read guides, but she’s just not fun to me :frowning:

I have 4 Zer0s! (Which adds up to 0. Badum tsh.) Make another one!

We all have favourites! All I’m saying is that things change. I used to really dislike Zero in the early days, but now he’s one of my favourites. Sometimes all it takes is a comment in a post or a cool clip with your least favourite char, and you go: “Yeah, I wanna try that too!”

Play the char you prefer, but don’t delete a char. You never know!

If you invest in the LBT tree and strip your shield with the Chain Lightning you also have an excellent EB proc to kill and heal up.

Yeah, I thought about going down LBT, but since I use a Grog and a HoT for dealing damage, I decided to buff DT instead. I use Chain lightning for shield stripping, but my health is usually full when i shield strip, so I don’t feel the need for healing at that point, and then the Grog takes care of the healing.

Not saying that EB isn’t worth it, but I simply don’t have the points to spare. OC and BFF are both filled.

Feel your pain. Same here. Dont enjoy her playstyle because she is so innacurate i understand why her love so many people and she have very good damage with anarchy, but i love using snipers and actually hit something i guess it just not my playstyle.
I have Maya OP8 and after what, switch to lvl up Gaige now she is 58 and i dont have motivation to play. Im play her but its not enjoyable i dont know why. After Gaige i plan go to Sniper Zero.
Maybe some advice for her can help me dont know. Now a’m play Anarchy and BFF tree, on UTHM have problem stack anarchy, very often die, dont know its just pain in ass. Love Gaige for her personality as character, but can’t get used to gameplay.

Gaige playstyle is very different from the others VH. If you dont enjoy playing with elemental DoT, playing with your pet or the innacurate but awesome Anarchy mechanic so she isnt for you indeed.
You can also perfectly mix all of her traits.

What I like about her is that the pet playstyle isnt like Axton and the elemental damage isnt like Maya so she feels pretty new when you play her after the others VH.

Sounds like Zero, Axton or Maya to me.

As for Gaige, I played with Anarchy for a while and it didn’t suit me. I switched her to a EB/DoT build and she’s the most fun character for me these days (and a pretty good Sniper). I rarely get over 20 stacks now.

You pretty much described melee Krieg with Release the Beast.
Or, sort of, anarchy Gaige with a Jakobs shotgun.
Or you could spec Sharing is Caring, get Deathtrap a Flame of the Firehawk and watch every Viking berserker cry in shame.

Like everybody else has said, there are lots of ways to play each character and some of them may come to suit your taste later.

I started out with Gaige and thought the others just paled compared to her awesomeness - now I play all characters at OP8, have 20 more characters going, and I’m loving all of them.
Even the hopelessly broken Sal can be interesting with a Deputy build, Lyuda build or what have you.

Take your time, this game is one for the ages. It’s not going anywhere :acmwink:

If your only level 20 you should keep on going. Don’t be too quick to judge. Me for example. I like every characters playstyle for their own reasons because I got all of em to op8. I didn’t just give up through the middle… Well maybe a couple times with melee kreig (so much harder than melee zero). But I used to hate mechro too but it turns out that she is probable one of the most OP characters I’ve ever played in the game! Seriously one shotting Terra is pretty OP in my opinion. I will admit she is probably one the most annoying characters to gearand level up. But stick tthrough with it. It’ll pay off my friend
