##1. Prelim

This is a list of the Gear that we, as the community, feel is the best for Lady Hammerlock in each category.
This is a community guide, so if you don’t see something on here that you think should be, post your recommendation.

The structure of the Guide will be as follows: 2 to 6 slots in each category will be reserved for Top Gear, the best bits of gear from that type. Additionally, there might be a section immediately following that for Honourable Mentions, pieces of gear that just didn’t make the cut for whatever reason, but are still good enough to appear here. Each piece of Top Gear will be accompanied by a short run-down on the weapon, what it does, ideal parts, where you can find it, and good alternative items if applicable.

Disclaimer
If you have any of the gear in the list, and are willing to record some short (2-3 min) video footage, please add them as reply and I’ll add them in the OP!

Descriptions are up to debate. The “no description until we agree on one” approach aka bottoms-up is a bit slow, so we’re going to do it Middle-out instead. I’ll add my subjective impressions to gear that I’ve used extensively so far and await corrections or additions from the community.

Best element for any guns is usually :snowflake: and :boom: where applicable, followed by :zap: and    . :fire: is almost never good for Aurelia.

About Obtaining the gear, the term “world drop” usually refers to regular enemies as well as chests. I’ve added this detail to all legendary items I’ve ever found or seen people find in chests in the Item Find of the Day threads, but I don’t swing by often there. If you know about chest lootable legendaries from this list, please let us know!

The recent DLC has added Glitched rarity guns with Error codes, for more information, please refer to this Guide on glitch effects and codes!

##2. Top Weapons

###A quick excursion on crit bonuses
which are not unimportant for Aurelia. The Critical Damage formula as follows:

                           (1 + .Type A + .CritDmg) * (1 + .Type B)
Crit Damage = Damage * 2 * ————————————————————————————————————————
                                        (1 + .Tpye C)

CritDmg are crit boosts from class mods, Badass Ranks, luneshines, hitting crits on frozen targets and skills.
####Example:
The Hail has 200% Type A, 0% Type B and 20% Type C modifier, which results in following if not counting in the Crit bonuses from class mods, luneshines, crit on cryo bonus and skills:

                           (1 + 2) * (1 + 0) 6
Crit Damage = Damage * 2 * ————————————————— = Damage * ——— = Damage * 5
                                (1 + 0.2) 1.2

The Hammer Buster II has 50% Type A, 15% Type B and 0% Type C modifier, which results in following if not counting in the Crit bonuses from class mods and skills:

                           (1 + 0.5) * (1 + 0.15)
Crit Damage = Damage * 2 * —————————————————————— = Damage * 3.45
                                  (1 + 0)

And one last: a Snider with crit prefix and crit luneshine has 120% + 10% Type A crit, resulting in

                           (1 + 1.2 + 0.1) * (1 + 0)
Crit Damage = Damage * 2 * ————————————————————————— = Damage * 4.6
                                     (1 + 0)

So if there’s any mention of the Crit types, you’ll know where to put them. Kudos go to @Chuck80, @Sljm and all the people they gave kudos to in their calc threads.

Back on topic.

##2.1 Pistols

Pistols make versatile side arms for Aurelia, be it for ammo diversion, or element matching.
[Pistol Parts]

###Anarchist
:fire:   :zap:     :snowflake:   :no_entry_sign:

A Vladof pistol with high fire rate, high base damage and good accuracy. ADS recommended. The yellow glitch will turn this into a very powerful rapid burst SMG.

###T4s-R
:fire:   :zap:     :snowflake:

A unique Hyperion pistol with high fire rate, very high accuracy and very high elemental chance. Comes with 7.5% Type B crit modifier.

  • Best parts:
  • Hyperion or Torgue Grip
  • Damage prefix (Win-Win) or Double Projectile prefix (Redundant),
  • Obtaining:
Possible reward for completing any of the round of the Holodome Onslaught. also drops from Badass enemies in the Badass round
  • Gameplay footage:
:tv: Lvl70 mobbing at the Titan Robot Plant

###Slapper
:boom:

A Torgue pistol with very high base damage, that gets 100% Explosive Splash damage on hit. Outstanding for element matching with Aurelia’s cryo skills. The projectile speed can be boosted by Aurelia’s Only the Best skill.

  • Alternatives:
  • :boom: Hard/Double Penetrating Slapper with Shield bypass luneshine
  • Best parts:
  • Torgue Grip
  • Damage prefix (Hard) or Double Projectile prefix (Double Penetrating)
  • Glitch code 4400
  • Obtaining: World drop, Grinder
  • Gameplay footage:
:tv: Lvl70 mobbing at the Titan Robot Plant

###Maggie
:no_entry_sign:

A legendary Jakobs pistol that shoots 6 pellets at the cost of 1 bullet. Has the hidden Jakobs Type B crit modifier of 25%.

##Honorable mentions
###88 Fragnum
:boom:

A legendary Torgue pistol that shoots 5 pellets at the cost of 3 bullets. Has a 25% Type A crit bonus and gets 100% Explosive Splash Damage. Projectiles are slower than regular Torgue projectiles, but can be accelerated by Aurelia’s Only the Best skill.

  • The catch:
Due to its huge ammo usage, the Damage prefix would be most efficient. Still a Double Penetrating Slapper does more damage at a lower ammo cost than a Hard 88 Fragnum. The big pellet spread makes it more of a glorified shotgun.
  • Best parts:
  • Torgue Grip
  • Damage prefix (Hard)
  • shield bypass or crit luneshine
  • Obtaining: World drop, Grinder, Vendors
  • Gameplay footage:
:tv: Lvl 70 Mobbing at Cluster Pandora

###Logan’s Gun
:fire:

A legendary Hyperion pistol whose projectiles will be absorbed by Absorb Shields as Rocket ammo. Comes with a 7.5% Type B crit bonus.

  • The catch:
It’s more a utility tool than a fighting weapon, and only really necessary at one encounter in the whole game so far (Raid boss fight in UVHM)
  • Best parts:
  • Scav Grip
  • Double projectile prefix (Redundant)
  • as low level as possible
  • Obtaining: World drop, Grinder, Vendors
  • Gameplay footage:
:tv: Lvl 70 Felicity fight with Sham, Logan’s Gun and Badaboom

##2.2 SMGs

SMGs can make good side arms as well as serve as reliable main weapons with a deep ammo pool for medium to close range oriented Builds.
[SMG parts]

###Fatale
:snowflake:

A legendary Hyperion SMG with great accuracy and fire rate, as well as a 75% Type A crit bonus and a hugely accelerated reverse recoil gimmick. Great for Cold Advance.

  • Alternatives:
  • Promotional/All-In Cheat Code for different Elements.
  • Best parts:
  • Hyperion or Maliwan Grip, Dahl stock
  • Damage (Right-Sizing) or bullet speed (Proactive) prefix
  • shield bypass or crit luneshine
  • Obtaining: Drongo Bones from Nina’s “Rough Love” mission, Grinder, Vendors
  • Gameplay footage:
:tv: Lvl 70 mobbing at the Titan Robot Plant

###Fast Talker
:fire:   :zap:     :snowflake:

A legendary Scav SMG with good base damage, insanely high fire rate, good accuracy, very low recoil and fast reload speed.

  • Alternatives:
  • :snowflake: Stopping/Flying Torrent with shield bypass luneshine
  • Best parts:
  • Dahl or Scav Grip, Dahl stock
  • Damage (True-Blue) or bullet speed (Kwikner) prefix
  • Obtaining: Loyalty reward for the Tales from the Borderlands Season Pass
  • Gameplay footage:
:tv: Lvl 70 Mobbing at the Titan Robot Plant

##Honorable mentions

###IVF
:fire:   :zap:     :snowflake:   :no_entry_sign:

A legendary Tediore SMG whose reload gimmick will spawn two smaller IVFs that also explode.

###Frigdia
:snowflake:

A unique Dahl SMG with very high elemental effect chance that fires 2 projectiles at the cost of 1 bullet. It has no recoil at all, and and the ADS burst-fire count is very high. Damage is pretty okay.

  • The catch:
It fires in a fixed pattern of the Lascaux cave paintings, thus its only good at point blank for landing all bullets.
  • Best parts:
  • Dahl or Maliwan Grip, Dahl stock
  • Damage (Stopping) or Bullet speed (Flying) prefix
  • Obtaining: Reward for the mission “In Perfect Hibernation” given by Lazlo in the Veins of Helios.
  • Gameplay footage:
:tv: Lvl 70 Mobbing at Cluster Pandora

##2.3 Shotguns

Shotguns are excellent for element matching and/or crit bonuses on frozen targets for medium to close combat oriented builds. Some even work well beyond medium range.
[Shotgun parts]

###Ravager
:boom:

A Torgue shotgun with very high damage and a huge number of pellets, that deals 85% Explosive Splash damage on hit.

  • Alternatives:
  • :boom: Juicy/Sinewy/Impetuous Ravager with shield bypass luneshine
  • Best parts:
  • Torgue Grip, Hyperion stock
  • Critical (Juicy), General boost (Sinewy) or Reload (Impetuous) prefix
  • Glitch code 4040 or 0044

  • Gameplay footage:
:tv: Lvl 70 mobbing at the Titan Robot Factory

###Flayer
:no_entry_sign:

A legendary Jakobs shotgun with increased damage, pellet count (15-17) and mag size, that fires in a tight spread and only consumes 2 ammo per shot. Probably has the hidden Jakobs Type B crit modifier of 15% and a 50% Type A crit bonus on top.

  • Alternatives:
  • :no_entry_sign: Doc’s Coach Gun with Glitch code 4400 or 0440
  • :no_entry_sign: Doc’s Coach Gun with shield bypass luneshine
  • Best parts:
  • Jakobs Grip, Hyperion stock
  • Damage crit (Doc’s)
  • shield bypass or crit luneshine
  • Obtaining: World drop, Grinder
  • Gameplay footage:
:tv: Lvl70 mobbing at the Titan Robot Plant

###Bullpup
:fire:   :zap:     :snowflake:   :no_entry_sign:

A unique Hyperion shotgun with greatly increased magazine size, increased critical hit damage and slightly increased accuracy, firing speed, and reload speed compared to blue old-line Hyperion shotgun. One of the best (if not the best) Hyperion shotguns in the game. It’s also a great cryo gun due to its magazine size and number of pellets.

  • Alternatives:
  • :snowflake: Practicable Company man (Loyalty reward for Tales from the Borderlands season pass)
  • :snowflake: Practicable Thinking with Glitch code 0404
  • Best parts:
  • Locked Hyperion parts
  • Pellet count (Enforceable) or General boost prefix (Conglomerate)
  • Obtaining:
Loyalty reward for having having Borderlands 1 savegames on your device, and upon starting a new game you get one your level.
  • Gameplay footage:
:tv: Lvl70 mobbing at the Titan Robot Plant

###Boganella
:fire:   :zap:     :snowflake:   :no_entry_sign:

A unique Scav shotgun with greatly increased magazine size, very high pellet cound and good base damage. Fire rate is mediocre, and ammo consumption of 3 ammo per shot is not ideal for extended fights. Unique voice module.

##Honorable Mentions

###Striker
:no_entry_sign:

A legendary Jakobs shotgun with a very high accuracy and a real tight spread. Has the hidden Jakobs Type B crit modifier of 15% and a 50% Type A crit bonus on top.

##2.4 Assault Rifles

Assault rifles are fairly underpowered in general, but their deep ammo pool makes them a viable ammo diversity option. When lacking better side arms, here are some less terrible choices to go with.
[Assault Rifle parts]

###Spitter
:boom:

A Torgue assault rifle with high base damage and above average fire rate. Delivers damage fast when matching elements with Aurelia’s cryo skills. It deals 90% Explosive Splash damage on hit.

  • Alternatives:
  • :boom: Slippery/Wild/Rhythmic Spitter with shield bypass luneshine
  • Best parts:
  • Torgue Grip, Dahl stock
  • Bullet Speed (Slippery), Fire rate (Wild) or Stability (Rhythmic) prefix
  • Glitch code 0404
  • Obtaining: World drop, Grinder
  • Gameplay footage:
:tv: Lvl70 mobbing at the Titan Robot Plant

###Gatling Gun
:no_entry_sign:

A Jakobs assault rifle with the Vladof spinnigun barrel. Fires 3 projectiles per 1 ammo at a very high base damage at a very high fire rate while still being pretty accurate. Has the hidden Jakobs Type B crit modifier of 15%.

  • Alternatives:
  • :no_entry_sign: Boss Gatling Gun with shield bypass luneshine
  • :no_entry_sign: Hammer Buster II with shield bypass luneshine (hidden 15%Type B and another 50% Type A crit bonus)
  • Best parts:
  • Jakobs Grip, Dahl stock
  • Damage prefix (Boss)
  • Glitch code 4400 or 0440
  • Obtaining: World drop, Grinder
  • Gameplay footage:
:tv: Lvl70 mobbing at the Titan Robot Plant

###Shredifier
:fire:   :zap:     :snowflake:   :no_entry_sign:

A Vladof assault rifle with very high fire rate, quick spin up and huge mag size at the cost of slightly lowered damage .

##Honorable Mentions

###Hail
:fire:   :zap:     :snowflake:

A unique elemental Vladof Assault rifle with high fire rate and good base damage, that fires bullets in a high arc. Bullets split into 2 after a certain distance and always inflict 80% of the base damage as splash damage. This gun is a Moxxi gun and thus has a hidden 200% crit modifier as well as 3% life steal from all damages.

  • The catch:
While it’s already hard to aim with the bullet trajectory, Aurelia’s Only the best skill can make the arc go even further than normal, and the split bullet arc even higher, thus making it much more harder to aim.
  • Best parts:
  • Locked Vladof Grip, Dahl stock
  • Damage prefix (Ferocious)
  • Obtaining: Iwaijira in Serenity’s Waste
  • Gameplay footage:
:tv: Lvl 70 Mobbing at Cluster Pandora, worst possible prefix, horrible arc.

###Major Tom
:fire:   :zap:     :snowflake:   :no_entry_sign:

A Dahl assault rifle with good fire rate, mag size, and damage, that fires 3 bullets at the cost of 2 in a very wide horizontal line. ADS burst-fire is 5 shots.

  • The catch:
At a distance, the horizontal pattern of the bullets becomes so wide, that only the middle bullet will hit normal target. To land all bullets, you need to be at point blank.
  • Best parts:
  • Dahl Grip and stock
  • Damage (Attack) or Bullet Speed (Deep) prefix
  • shield bypass luneshine
  • Obtaining: World drop, Grinder, Vendors
  • Gameplay footage:
:tv: Lvl 70 Mobbing at Cluster Pandora, notice the wide bullet spread from medium distance.

##2.5 Sniper Rilfes

Snipers make excellent main guns for Aurelia due to all her boosts from the Huntress tree. But even as a side arm they can prove useful, and be it just for the Magic Bullet revive ability for herself and her team mates.
[Sniper Rifle parts]

###Skullmasher
:no_entry_sign:

A legendary Jakobs sniper rifle that shoots 6 pellets at the cost of 1 bullet and has decreased accuracy. Has the hidden Jakobs Type A crit bonus of 160%. Note that if not all 6 projectiles land, it will trigger miss skills in Aurelia’s Huntress tree and reset all I never miss stacks.

  • Best parts:
  • Jakobs Grip, Dahl stock
  • Damage (Skookum) or Crit (Tumtum) prefix
  • shield bypass or crit luneshine
  • Obtaining: World Drop, Nel in Regolith Range, Grinder
  • Gameplay footage:
:tv: Lvl 70 Mobbing at the Titan Robot Factory

###Snider
:fire:   :zap:     :snowflake:

A Maliwan sniper rifle with fairly high base damage and huge elemental chance, that deals 50% Elemental splash damage on hit.

  • Alternatives:
  • :snowflake: Barking/Gentleman’s Snider with shield bypass or crit luneshine
  • Best parts:
  • Maliwan Barrel and Grip, Dahl stock
  • Damage (Barking) or Crit (Gentleman’s) prefix
  • Glitch code 4400 or 0404
  • Obtaining: World drop, Grinder
  • Gameplay footage:
:tv: Lvl 70 mobbin at the Titan Robot Factory

###Droog
:fire:   :zap:     :snowflake:   :no_entry_sign:

A Vladof sniper rifle with high fire rate and fairly high base damage but some increased recoil. It’s a great gun for most boss fights since it’s capable of landing many crits very fast.

  • Alternatives:
  • :snowflake: / :zap: /    Gromky/Razrez/Dobby Droog with shield bypass or crit luneshine
  • Best parts:
  • Vladof Grip, Dahl stock
  • Damage (Gromky), Crit (Razrez) or Stability (Dobby) prefix
  • Glitch code 0404 or 0421
  • Obtaining: World drop, Grinder
  • Gameplay footage:
:tv: Lvl 70 Felicity boss fight
:tv: Lvl 70 RK5 boss fight

###Pitchfork
:fire:   :zap:     :snowflake:   :no_entry_sign:

A Dahl sniper rifle that fires 5 horizontal shots in a line, shaped in a “V” pattern. Consumes 2 ammo per shot. Due to the huge bullet spread, it’s best used at boss fights and on big targets in general.

  • Best parts:
  • Dahl Grip and stock
  • Damage (Pacifying) or Crit (Night) prefix
  • shield bypass or crit luneshine
  • Obtaining: World Drop, Grinder. Vendors
  • Gameplay footage:
:tv: Lvl 70 fight against Ecplise

###Muckamuck
:no_entry_sign:

A Jakobs sniper rifle with very high base damage, slow fire rate and high recoil. Has the hidden Jakobs Type A crit bonus of 160%.Since it only fires 1 bullet per shot, it is the better choice for stacking I never miss as opposed to the Skullsmasher.

  • Alternatives:
  • :no_entry_sign: Skookum/Tumtum Muckamuck with shield bypass or crit luneshine
  • Best parts:
  • Jakobs Grip, Dahl stock
  • Damage (Skookum) or crit (Tumtum) prefix
  • Glitch code 4400
  • Obtaining: World drop, Grinder
  • Gameplay footage:
:tv: Lvl 70 Mobbing at the Titan Robot Factory

###Fremington’s Edge
:fire:   :zap:     :snowflake:   :no_entry_sign:

A unique Hyperion sniper with the highest zoom magnification (11x) in the game, twice as high as any other sniper. It gets an increased Type A critical hit bonus of 175% instead of the 100% when scoped, resulting in 5.5x the damage listed on the card before element matching and other crit modifiers.

##Honorable Mentions

###Invader
:fire:   :zap:     :snowflake:   :no_entry_sign:
A legendary Hyperion sniper with reduced damage and increased mag size. Fires a five round burst when scoped, which becomes more accurate throughout the burst.
Great for landing quick crits and appying elemental effects.

  • The catch:
This gun only shines when scoped, and its usefulness is therfore limited to med to long distance
  • Best parts:
  • Jakobs or Hyperion Grip, Dahl stock
  • Damage (Auditing) or Crit prefix (Venture)
  • Shield bypass or crit luneshine
  • Obtaining: World Drop, Grinder, Vendors
  • Gameplay footage:
:tv: Lvl 70 Mobbing at Cluster Pandora

###Longnail
:fire:   :zap:     :snowflake:   :no_entry_sign:

A Vladof sniper rifle whose shots will completely bypass shields and damage the health directly at the cost of significantly lowered damage, firerate and mag size. Always comes with fixed parts and the Stability prefix (Bolshy).

  • The catch:
While the full shield surpass looks great on paper, the low base damage won’t get shielded enemies killed faster than with a Droog. On unshielded enemies it’s just plain underpowered.
  • Fixed parts
  • Obtaining: (Invincible) Empyrean Sentinel in Eleseer, Grinder

##2.6 Lasers

For the Baroness, lasers a a bit like Assault Rifles, mostly an ammo diversity option with a deep ammo pool. Laser guns do offer some more variety though, especially there’s some guns that come with interesting gimmicks.
[Laser gun parts]

###Absolute Zero
:snowflake:

A legendary Maliwan beam laser with lowered magazine size, increased damage & element effect chance and damage. Very low recoil for a beam laser. Its mag will be at only 5 with 9/5 in Large Caliber, so take the frequent reloads into account for your DPS.

###Accelerated Blaster
:fire:   :zap:     :snowflake:

A unique Maliwan laser with a Dahl barrel that fires energy bolts at a high fire rate with high accuracy and low recoil. It comes with a continuous damage bonus of up to 210%. Unlike beam lasers, it’s much easier to keep these lasers on target and fully utilize that continuous bonus, making it a good alternative to SMGs and Assault Rifles.

  • Alternatives:
  • :snowflake: / :zap: Cryogenic/Ionizing Accelerated Blater with shield bypass luneshine
  • Best parts:
  • Maliwan Grip
  • :snowflake: (Cryogenic) or :zap: (Ionizing) element
  • Obtaining: World drop, Grinder
  • Gameplay footage:
:tv: Lvl70 mobbing at the Titan Robot Plant

###Mining Laser

:fire:   :zap:     :snowflake:
A unique Hyperion laser with matching barrel. Unlike other railguns, it fires 3 beams in a tight triangular spread at the cost of 7 ammo, that pierce enemies. Its high elemental chance is applied to each of the 3 beams, increasing the overall elemental effect chance. It has an innate 50% Type A crit bonus, and will receive another 10% Type A crit with the right stock.

###Excalibastard
:snowflake:

A legendary Hyperion laser with matching barrel and locked parts, and 110% Type A crit bonus on top. Critical hits have 100% chance to freeze targets with ranged and melee while wielding the weapon. Meleeing frozen enemies with this weapon generates a singularity that pulls enemies in close and then explodes into a cryo elemental nova which freezes other nearby enemies.
It’s good on its own, and even better for a melee hybrid play style utilizing A Backhand to Remember

  • Alternatives:
  • :snowflake: Niveous Longest Yard: higher base damage, but no melee gimmick.
  • Fixed parts
  • Obtaining:
Found in a stone in Stanton’s Liver. Requires 2500 Badass rank to pull out and can only be acquired once per character across all playthroughs. As of patch 1.02, it can be obtained from the grinder, too.
  • Gameplay footage:
    :tv: Holodome action @lvl 60.
:tv: Lvl 70 mobbing at the Titan Robot Plant

###Laser Disker
:boom:

A legendary Tediore Laser with very huge base damage but a relatively small magazine and low fire rate. Very untypically, it comes only in :boom: element, but this offers good synergies with Aurelias cryo abilities. Definitely better reload throw damage than an :no_entry_sign: IVF on frozen targets.

##Honorable Mentions

###Vibra-Pulse
:zap:
A unique Maliwan beam laser with average base damage and fairly low continuous fire bonus of 154% but high recoil. Its damage can chain to nearby enemies. Being a Moxxi gun, it comes with a hidden lifesteal around 3% of the damage dealt.

  • The catch:
The only reason this gun makes it onto the Top list is its easy availability and life steal gimmick. Damage-wise, it’s rather underperforming in the hands of the Baroness, and the health steal is thus rather unspectacular.
  • Fixed parts:
  • Obtaining:
Acquired by starting the Mission “Home Sweet Home” and opening the the weapon crate located in Moxxi’s Up & Over Bar in Concordia. Later on, the chest can be respawned by entering Concordia using the 2 doors from Triton Flats, one in Moxxis back office, the other one next to the Black Market, or from the door of the Meriff’s Office.
  • Gameplay footage:
:tv: Lvl 70 Mobbing at Cluster Pandora, damage output is pretty average, healing is handy and stacks up with Wintertide and Frigid Touch.

###Refracted Splitter
:fire:   :zap:     :snowflake:

A Tediore laser with a matching barrel that fires 6 beams at the cost of 3 ammo. The This gun can be a viable shotgun replacement.

  • The catch:
Its damage doesn’t nearly match decent shotguns, so this is more of an ammo diversity option for when you run out of shotgun ammo.
  • Alternatives:
  • :snowflake: Refridgerated Refracted Splitter with shield bypass or grenade luneshine
  • Best parts:
  • Maliwan Grip
  • Glitch code 0440 or 0404
  • :snowflake: element (Refridgerated)
  • Obtaining: World drop, Grinder
  • Gameplay footage:
:tv: Lvl70 mobbing at the Titan Robot Plant

##2.7 Rocket Launchers

Usually Rocket Launchers are a means to escape FFYL quickly. Their shallow ammo pool does not support extended fighting at all. There’s the Logan’s Gun + The Sham workaround to replenish rocket ammo, but that might be a bit too dictating on the gear loadout and play style.
[Rocket Launcher parts]

###Badaboom
:fire:   :zap:     :snowflake:   :boom:

A legendary Scav launcher with big mag size and good damage, that fires 6 projectiles with wide splash damage per 1 ammo. Great FFYL tool, and a viable option to fight the small stage of the Sentinel.

###Nukem
:boom:

A legendary Torgue launcher with extremely high damage whose rockets fire in an arc and explode in a mushroom cloud upon detonation. Extremely slow reload speed. Does superb damage when matching elements with Aurelia’s cryo skills. Great FFYL tool.

  • Best parts:
  • Torgue Gripm, Torgue exhaust, Tediore sight
  • Damage (derp) or Swap speed (fwap a) prefix
  • shield bypass luneshine
  • Obtaining: Flameknuckle (during the campaign and in the Holodome round 1 and Badass round), Grinder
  • Gameplay footage:
:tv: Lvl 70 Mobbing at Cluster Pandora, but please don’t do that. The Nukem is a FFYL tool that can put yourself into FFYL if you’re not careful.

##Honorable Mentions
###Cryophobia
:snowflake:
A legendary Maliwan launcher with low base damage whose projectiles explode multiple times mid-flight before hitting their target. Thus it’s best to fire it parallel to the ground and aim near a target instead of directly at it.

  • The catch:
The unique projectile behaviour makes this launcher only useful to combat large groups of enemies that stand in one line, while it fares poor against single enemies.
  • Best parts:
  • Maliwan Grip, Maliwan or Vladof exhaust, Tediore sight
  • Damage (Puissant) prefix
  • shield bypass luneshine
  • Obtaining: The Bosun in Pity’s Fall, World drop, Grinder, Vendors
  • Gameplay footage:
:tv: Lvl 70 Mobbing at the Hyperion Hub of Heroism
    ##3. Top Items

##3.1 Shields

Generally Aurelia’s skill set benefit from fast recharging shields. Slower shields can be accelerated by speccing Short Summer and Podsnappery, as well as relying on the instant shield recharge gimmick of the 3DD1.e oz kit. Furthermore, there’s the Creme de la Creme com that shortens recharge delay and boosts recharge rate, as well as the Eridian Vanquisher com that boosts recharge rate by a huge margin.
[Shield components]
###Shields

Low Capacity Tediore shields with very short recharge delay (usually under 1.5s) and instant recharge rate (usually 1.7x the capacity), making them great for triggering Prudent Prudence, Bitter Riposte and Winter’s Veil almost everytime you get hit. They can spawn with elemental immunities.

  • Best parts:
  • Hyperion Body and battery, Maliwan capacitor for lowest recharge delay
  • Pangolin Body and battery, Maliwan capacitor for highest capacity
  • :fire: or :zap: immunity (Inflammable or Grounded)
  • Obtaining: World drop, Grinder, Vendors
  • Gameplay footage:
:tv: Lvl 70 mobs get themselves frozen on Tediore shield

###The Sham

Low Capacity absorb shield with very high absorb chance (80% to 94%). Good for areas with lots of gun wielding enemies, less helpful against melee enemies, bosses and Eridian aliens. Can be used to replenish rocket ammo for free in conjunction with a Logan’s Gun.

###Naught

Low capacity Tediore shield with 0s recharge delay. Will keep recharging even through DoTs. The recharge rate is rather low, but can be fixed with a com such as the Erdidian Vanquisher, making it recharge almost as fast as purple shields. One downside is, that this shield can’t come with elemental immunities.

###Rerouter

Hyperion amp shield with huge amp damage, that will restore the amped damage as health. Very long recharge delay (almost 8s), that can be partially fixed by the Data scrubber Grenade and the COMs and skills mentioned earlier.

###Adaptive Shield

Anshin shields that offer Elemental resistances according to the last element typ you were hit with, as well as a HP boost. While they underperform on Aurelia in mobbing situations, they are still useful for boss encounters where there’s no need for crowd control via Bitter Riposte and Winter’s Veil is necessary, but rather a solid defense.

  • Best parts:
  • All Maliwan parts (Panacea) for highest resistance and health boost
  • all Pangolin parts (Superior) for max. shield capacity (6s delay)
  • Obtaining: World drop, Grinder, Vendors

##Honorable Mentions

###Cracked Sash

Unique low Capacity Tediore shield with the shortest recharge delay ingame of 0.98s and instant recharge rate, making it great for triggering Prudent Prudence, Bitter Riposte and Winter’s Veil almost everytime you get hit.

  • The catch:
Unfortunately it can not spawn with elemental immunities. Also, a purple Tediore Shield with the same parts will have identical stats to this shield.
  • Best parts:
  • Hyperion Body, battery and capacitor
  • Obtaining: World drop, Grinder, Vendors

###Turtle Shields / Fabled Tortoise

Pangolin shields with extremely high capacity at the cost of a health penalty. When lacking a good adaptive shield during boss fights, these can do a good job providing defense too. The Tortoise comes with a movement speed penalty of 50% when charged and a speed boost of 150% when depleted. The purple variants don’t have this gimmick.

  • The catch:
As stated, these shields are second choice at best, since they offer little synergy to Aurelia’s skill set, and need heavy investment in skill points and gear to be made useful.
  • Best parts:
  • Pangolin parts (Carapaced) for max shield capacity
  • Hyperion parts (Pouncing) for shortest recharge delay
  • Obtaining:
    World drop , Grinder, Vendors
  • Alternatives:
  • Shield of Ages, higher capacity, lower health penalty, no movement speed penalty. Fixed parts.

##3.2 Class mods

It’s not easy to list class mods that are better than others, since that is hightly build-dependant. Specialized COMs can work superbly for certain builds while being utterly useless else. Anyways, here’s some good allrounders. The max possible stat boosts will be put in brackets.

###Celestial Baroness

Ammo Regen (+1.3), Critical Damage (+49%), Freeze Chance (+43%)
Markswoman / Only the Best / Avalanche / Bitter Riposte / Duchess / Quality Not Quantity
Deals :snowflake: Spike Damage to melee attackers while Cold as Ice is active.

Legendary Hyperion class mods that boosts six low Tier skills by up to 5 points. An excellenet allround COM with no real weaknesses that will perform well no matter which tree you focus on, and the :snowflake: spike gives additional crowd control.

  • Obtaining:
World Drop, The Empyrean Sentinel, Grinder, Vendors

###Chronicler of Elpis

Freeze Chance (+46%), Cryo Damage (+48%), Shield Capacity (+11657)
Large Caliber / I Never Miss / Frost Bite / Cold Advance / Quality Not Quantity

Legendary Maliwan class mods that boosts five high tier skills by up to 4 points. An excellenet COM that again can work well with any tree, although the :snowflake: boosts suggest that it works best with the Cold Money tree. The only COM that can boost :snowflake: damage on shields high enough to surpass the element matching with :zap:[*].

###Eridian Vanquisher

Shield Recharge Rate (+261%), Air Control (+212%), Max Health (+11657)
Markswoman / Only the Best / Avalanche / Bitter Riposte / Quality Not Quantity

Legendary Hyperion class mods that boosts five low tier skills by up to 4 points. The shield recharge rate boost is pretty spectacular and can even recharge turtle shields pretty fast. This immense defensive boost makes up for the lack of offensive capabilities compared to the other legendary COMs.

  • Obtaining:
The Empyrean Sentinel in Eleseer, X-STLK-23 in Hyperion R&D, Grinder

###Gentry

Cooldown Rate (+30%)
Short Summer / Frostbite / Cold Advance

Maliwan class mods that boosts three medium tier skills. The skill cooldown complements Short Summer well, while the other two skills boost :snowflake: and general damage. Good all round COM with a slight focus on offense.

  • Best prefix:
    High-and-Mighty (Cold Advance), Indifferent (Frostbite)
  • Obtaining: World drop, Grinder, Vendors

###High Definition

Slam Damage (+43%), Gun Damage (+43%), Critical Damage (+43%)
Only the Best / Large Caliber / Quality not Quantity

Dahl class mods that boosts three low to mid tier skills. Again a good all round COM with a slight focus on offense.

  • Best prefix:
Ultra (Large Caliber), Crystal Clear (Quality not Quantity)
  • Obtaining:
Possible reward for completing any of the round of the Holodome Onslaught, Grinder

###Queen

Cryo Damage (+49%)
Gainsboroout / Avalanche / Short Summer

Maliwan class mod that boosts one low Tier 1 and two high tier skills. This com offers the highest :snowflake: damage potential on unshielded targets that can even surpaass the :boom: on :snowflake: element matching bonus[*].

  • Best prefix:
Ice (Avalanche), blue Ice Queen with Avalanche and Short Summer for maxing :snowflake: damage
  • Obtaining: World drop, Grinder, Vendors

##Honorable mentions

###Lady

Gun Damage (+43%), Fire Rate (+20%)
Only the Best / Qualitiy not Quantity / Protect Your Assets

Dahl class mod that boosts three low tier skills. Good allround COM with a slight focus on offense.

  • The catch:
With one largely unuseful skill (Protect Your Assets), this com is outperformed by the High Definition
  • Best prefix:
blue Dignified with +6 Quality not Quantity / +5 Only the Best for maxing gun damage
  • Obtaining: World drop, Grinder, Vendors

###Sport Hunter

Critical Damage (+43%), Sniper Ammo Regen (+1.3)
Only the Best / Warning Shot / Wait for it…

Jakobs class mods that boosts three low to mid tier 3 skills. Good synergy with a Skullmasher, since the two missing skills are triggered when just one of its 6 projectiles misses. Wait for it… stacks can also be maxed very quickly by shooting off target with a Vladof sniper.

  • The catch:
While this COM offers great boosts for sniper builds, it is a bit dictating on the gear needed as well as the playstyle.
  • Best prefix:
    Uninterested (Warning Shot)
  • Obtaining: World drop, Grinder, Vendors

##3.3 Grenades

###Transfusion
:fire:   :zap:     :snowflake:   :boom:

Maliwan grenades that release up to 8 seeking child grenades upon detonation. Damage triggers Transfuion effect, turning a portion of damage dealt into life orbs that heal the wielder and allies. Both, the initial explosion and the child grenades deal damage, and can result in elemental effects.

###Cryo
:snowflake:

Vladof grenades AoE grenade that creates a frozen area centered around the detonation location that lasts for a while and freezes enemies within its range. It does a great job freezing enemies within a medium radius.

###Leech
:fire:   :zap:     :snowflake:

Legendary Maliwan Transfusion grenades whose child grenades attach to enemies deal a comparatively low damage over time. All damage dealt is instantly transferred to the player, no transfusion trails needed. While the destructive potential of this grenade is very low, the instant health regain regardless of distance and obstacles makes it a great support/healing grenade.

###Quasar
:zap:

Legendary Hyperion Singularity grenade with reduced damage but increased blast radius, in fact the largest singularity grenade ingame. Enemies pulled within the blast radius suffer shock damage over time until the explosion occurs. Enemies caught in the pull are staggered and cannot attack for a few seconds. This makes the Quasar a great crowd control tool, which can be especially useful for pulling otherwise tough enemies into death traps.

  • Best version:
  • Longbow delivery
  • 701 radius, 0s fuse time,
  • Obtaining: Felicity Rampant, World drop, Grinder, Vendors

##Honorable Mentions

###Snowball
:snowflake:

A unique Tediore grenade with 0s fuse, strongly increased damage but decreased blast radius and a modified lobbed delivery mechanism that’s more like a very quick longbow grenade. Upon throwing, a single grenade is releast that travels along an almost straight line, but can be intercepted by other targets or obstructions that move into its way.
It profits from the Cold Money tree and cryo focused class mods, and is good for freezing and damaging a single target.

  • The catch:
The damage is not high enough to justify using it as a destructive grenade, and its effectiveness against only a single target is quite a disadvantage. There are far better grenades for freezing enemies.
  • Fixed parts
  • Obtaining: Reward from the Mission “Infinite Loop” from Jack for siding with CLAP-9000.

##3.4 Oz kits

###3DD1.e
:boom:

Legendary Hyperion oz kit with a unique voice module that boosts shield capacity, laser damage and Air control. In combat, it will randomly replenish shields and health. When damaged, it will randomly shock nearby enemies. When killing an enemy, it will randomly drop a care package, which provides health vials, ammunition and/or money drops.
This kit is most useful as a survival tool first, thanks to its shield restore and health vial drops, and an offense booster second, since lasers are not quite the primary guns for Aurelia.

  • Obtaining:
CL4P-L3K after completing the Mission “Eradicate!”. For farming purposes it’s better to seal him during the mission instead of killing him right away. That way, you can come back later to farm him.
    World Drop, Grinder, Vendors

###Juggernaut
:fire:   :zap:     :snowflake:   :boom:

Torgue oz kit with very high slam damage and resistances to up to 3 damage types. Slams shatter enemy air masks.
Makes a good survival oz kit, and the high slam damage encourages a close to medium combat play style.

  • Best version:
  • At least :fire: and :zap: resistance
  • :snowflake: slam element (Arctic) or :boom: slam element (no prefix)
  • Obtaining: World drop, Grinder, Vendors

###Duality
:fire:   :zap:     :snowflake:  :boom:

Dahl oz kit that grants different bonuses in atmosphere and vacuum. There’s 2 types of Dualities, Gun damage, Recoil reduction / Fire Rate, Reload Speed and Elemental damage, Elemental chance / Shield recharge delay, Shield recharge rate. Especially on the Sniper variant, the Recoil Reduction helps immensely with most Jakobs and Vladof snipers.

###Tranquility
:fire:   :zap:     :snowflake:   :boom:

Tediore oz kit that grants increased gun damage for each O2 unit.
Makes a good all purpose offense boosting oz kit in atmosphere, and even in vacuum, O2 can be plentiful, if consequently picking up canisters and using air domes.

  • Alternatives:
  • :snowflake: Arctic Support Relay
  • Best version:
  • 206 O2 capacity, 0.18% gun damage per O2
  • :snowflake: slam element (Arctic) or :boom: slam element (no prefix)
  • Obtaining: World drop, Grinder, Vendors

##Contenders / Todo

Here’s a couple of items that might make it into the top selection soon, but should be discussed by the community first. In no particular order:

  • :snowflake: Meganade as crowd control alternative to the Quasar?
  • :boom: Kaneda’s Laser
  • :snowflake: Shooterang

Todo for this guide:

  • make game play video footage of some more items:
  • Quasar
  • Juggernaut oz kit (maybe show one hit stomping trash mobs?)

I had a level 42 Reserved Gentry (Purple) Mod that lasted me will into the middle 50s which I didn’t really want to let go of as it was pretty superb. Reduces skill cool-down, plus boosts Short Summer, Frostbite and Cold Advance, so for a full-on Cold Money build it was perfect as provided a decent amount of healing too.

Yeah, I came across that COM when calcing some min/maxing on cryo damage via Frostbite. The Indifferent Gentry (and Elite Creme de la Creme) can boost cryo damage on shields to 2.74 from lvl 50 on, which is very close to the shock modifier of 2.75 on shields.

Then again, my point stands that it’s rather challenging to put up a list of class mods that are better than other class mods, when they each serve a very specialized purpose.

Best I could do would be listing the most all-purpose COMs.

Can’t say I’ve tried a "Creme de la Crem"e mod as every build I’ve tried has ended up reliant on the centre tree. Even my sniper build hit the “Cold Money” capstone before she fully specced out “I Never Miss” :-/

Creme de la Creme boosts only skills from the middle tree.

To be fair, that does look pretty good. I think the one I saw must have been relatively low level at the time and didn’t appreciate the importance of the shield recharge rate (plus I will openly admit that with my main Aurelia I was utterly obsessed with freezing everything in sight).

Hey, nice work, again. You may want to edit that the Frigida can be obtained from the mission “In Perfect Hibernation” given by Lazlo in the Veins of Helios.

Awesome work so far - thanks for taking the hit and doing all this work! Just one minor edit:

  1. Prelim

This is a list of the Gear that we, as the community, feel is the best for Claptrap in each category.

Torgue shotguns benefit more from a Hyperion stock than a Torgue stock because it’ll reduce the recoil. Also, the Torgue grip gives it a damage increase as well as the mag and reload speed increases. So, for Torgue, unless you’re trying to set the mag size at a particular amount (e.g. 8 for Clappy’s OLT), a Torgue grip is the best. It’s the same for Jakobs, but with a Jakobs grip instead of Torgue; the stock remains the same.

@Karl_Napf @CitizenJayne @Gulfwulf

Thanks, the copy&paste mistakes have been corrected.

Alright, I’m through with the gear, tomorrow I’ll start working on the items.
I’d reckon it would be wiser to add Screenshots and gameplay videos after the next DLC.

Great work!

Definitely needed this to be started. I’m not sure but some of the Crit modifiers you mention seem slightly high, I am probably wrong but, a 420% crit modifier on a Jakobs Muck seems high.

But otherwise all great!

Thanks. Was referencing [this post] 1 about hidden Jakobs crit modifiers in bl2, and assuming they were carried over the same. If someone has newer data, please do share!

I think they did, although your numbers look odd to me, if you took them from tested info - Bl2 or TPS - then they should be right. But I am under the impression all snipers get a bonus 100% and Jakobs snipers an extra 60% on top of that.

So a normal sniper does 200% type A crit and 220% type A crit with the crit prefix.
And a Jakobs does 260% type A crit and 280% type A crit with the crit prefix.

Edit: just searched the forums and found this on critical hit bonus sources

Very nice, thanks for digging these up, I’m gonna put them in later when I’m home

have been edited, hopefully that makes it somewhat clear. Maybe I should just quote the formula at the beginning of the sniper section to make things easier.

Edit: Done. Dunno if that was overkill.

By the way, what kind of layout would be better? Looking forward to some feedback.

The first one: Option 1a – simplest & most compact. I’m no design person, though; but … since you asked specifically for feedback here!

I agree. I like 1a as well because of its simple layout and readability.

I agree, 1a is simple, compact and easy to read.

I am unsure but I think a damage prefix might be better on Aurelia as apposed to crit because of the high crit modifiers she gets the extra damage would go further.

maybe I’m wrong but:
100 base damage on a Tumtum Jakobs sniper translates to:
100 x 3.8 = 380
While 115 base damage on a Skookum Jakobs sniper equals:
115 x 3.6 = 414

I see you mention damage and crit prefixes for the Droog and other snipers and I think the same should be said for the Muck and Skullmasher.

sec, lemme just sort through some numbers.

Damage prefix is always 10% damage and crit prefix is 20% crit, right? How comes you got 15% on the skookum jakobs?

Assuming 100 base damage, 10% Damage prefix and 160% crit, it should be

110 x 2 x (1 + 1.6) = 110 x 5.2 = 572

And crit prefix with 180% would be

100 x 2 x (1 + 1.8) = 100 x 5.6 = 560

But yeah, good point. Gonna add damage prefixes to the jakobs snipers.

Gonna crunch some numbers on non jakobs snipers too.

Assuming 100 base damage, 10% Damage prefix and 100% crit, it should be

110 x 2 x (1 + 1) = 110 x 4 = 440

And crit prefix with 120% would be

100 x 2 x (1 + 1.2) = 100 x 4.4 = 440

Same…

Now the same with luneshines:

Assuming 100 base damage, 10% Damage prefix and 160% crit and 10% luneshine, it should be

110 x 2 x (1 + 1 + 0.1) = 110 x 4.2 = 462

And crit prefix with 120% and would be

100 x 2 x (1 + 1.2 + 0.1) = 100 x 4.6 = 460

damage prefix wins.

Shields and COMs have been added. Looking for some feedback here again, what to add, what to modify, what to maybe remove.

how about this way to display the stuff? I know it’s just a small change, but maybe it helps with readability

###Maggie

  • Description:
A legendary Jakobs pistol that shoots 6 pellets at the cost of 1 bullet. Has the hidden Jakobs Type B crit modifier of 25%, which works nicely on frozen targets.
  • Elements:      :no_entry_sign:
  • Best parts:
Jakobs Grip, Damage prefix (Dastardly), shield bypass or crit luneshine
  • Obtaining:      Grinder, Vendors

##Honorable mentions
###88 Fragnum

  • Description:
A legendary Torgue pistol that shoots 5 pellets at the cost of 3 bullets. Has a 25% Type A crit bonus, which works nicely on frozen targets together with its explosive element damage.
The big pellet spread makes it only useful at shotgun range, but it’s easily outperformed by any of the top and honorably mentioned shotguns.
  • Elements:      :boom:
  • Best parts:
Torgue Grip, Damage prefix (Hard), shield bypass or crit luneshine
  • Obtaining:      Grinder, Vendors
