I agree. I get that TPS was intended to keep people happy until BL3 came out, but so many players have stopped playing only a year after release and gone back to borderlands 2, so its not like they have to be concerned about people getting bored.

Besides, look at what rushing TPS got us; the game being released with a bug that prevented you from finishing the story, having non-farmable bosses, and having items that couldn’t drop in game (Celestial fragtrap and the Flying Maiden, though the former has been fixed). There is no way they could have taken their time with this game and not noticed several items never dropping and a bug that ■■■■-blocked (that’s what it felt like the first time I had it happen to me) story progression.

Don’t get me wrong, TPS is my favorite game in the franchise. But this game was definitely not given the time it needed to really shine.

sigh

Calling TPS “trolling the fans” really goes too far.
Sure it was buggy, but it delivered exactly what was promised otherwise.

Also, 2K Aus made the game, not Gearbox.

It’s a little bit baitey, not gonna lie. Still, makes a valid point.

Besides, sometimes it does feel like GB trolls us a little bit: Grandma flexington, bandits getting more mag size during the loot hunt, clap-in-the-box, 2 landscapers with one being a loyalty reward, the cradle existing, captain blade’s grenade, etc… I can see how someone could come to that conclusion lol.

Some of the design decisions early on did feel like getting trolled. Thankfully a lot have been fixed, but some are still there, and considering that some of these are actually pretty major (flying maiden not dropping in game) it would be nice if GB could find a way to fix those as well. As much as I’d like events and stuff, I’d really appreciate it if they could weed out the last few bugs in the game. The previous patches did a lot to help, but there’s still some work left to be done here.

Besides, the core of what they’re saying is pretty harmless. “Take your time, we can wait”. Nothing really controversial about that.

Yes, tps was a large pile of crap. But they did give us a lot of good things, but we were so focused on things that were eventually fixed that we ended up getting 2k Australia getting shut down. The team did screw up, but they also gave great back story on jack, set up the story for bl3 and they gave us a bunch of new game aspects that are amazing.

For example, we got low gravity, lasers, and cryo. These are very interesting aspects that can change the game. Another weapon and a new element can be very interesting, and low gravity can really help. It was good that they implemented it into the game, as it gave gearbox time to perfect it for bl3

In short, yes tps sucked. But it did great things, which made it a good game.

My only qualm with TPS is that the base game and Holodome DLC should have been cheaper.

I’m fine with less content, and reused content. Because in the end they delivered everything they said the would. Although the season pass was misleading in a way, but it still did everything it said it would. People expected BL3 and they got the patch job that is TPS. And I feel if they had lowered the price tag that would have gotten through to more people, and it wouldn’t have been such an abrupt realization that they had only bought a game that was meant to help them wait the 5 years until BL3 is released. (Sept. 2012 + 5 = Sept. 2017)

But if I’m going to buy a recycled game that is smaller than it’s predecessor, then I shouldn’t be expected to pay the same price. And the Holodome should not be the same price as the Clapstastic Voyage. In my mind it is a waaay worse Digistruct Peak that gave me…

  • Less class mods at a collectively lower quality.
  • 6 guns, which is 2 more than Digi peak. But one of them is IMO a worse copy paste Badaboom, a thus far worthless AR, ect… All of which I would personally trade in an instant for just the Bekah.
  • Less unique enemies and less bosses as a total.
  • No OP levels
  • A worse level design
  • One less skill level
  • And all for double the price tag

What about tps was a “large pile of crap”? It had the best designed characters, a pretty decent story (about the same as BL2 in quality, maybe a bit better in some respects), new mechanics, and an awesome campaign DLC. Not saying it deserves GOTY, but I think you may be exaggerating a bit.

I’m just going along with the crowd. I could finish the claptrap dlc one out of ten times due to glitching and the holodome dlc was just pitiful. And all the non respawnable bosses forcing you to get the thingy from iwajira so that you could grind made it bad. But I still liked the game

Pre sequel is a great game that offers hundreds of hours worth of fun. Im still playing it almost daily. Sucks you feel that way. But they did a good job with the game and it has alot of great ideas in it. It had a rough start and was lacking a little at first. But thats all different now.

All the bosses have been respawning for over a year now since they patched it. And its pretty easy to get all kinds of legendarys. So i dunno what you meant by that.

Game had some issues when it was released.

I frankly think those have been dealt with and the game (in it’s present form) is excellent!

The Claptrap DLC was a triumph!

Although I agree with KK…pricing should have been a tad different for TPS based on less content. And I think that is one of the main beefs that seems to stick in folk’s craw.

Key words here being “is” a pile of crap and “was” just pitiful. You are saying the game is bad in its current state based on things being in a state they are no longer in. Non-respawnable bosses were fixed a while ago, one of the best pistols in this game the taser) and some of the best classmods in the game are holodome rewards, and farming Iwa for the thingy because of bad drop rates stopped being a thing once the holodome came out and made flame knuckle farmable.

I’m not saying you gotta love the game, but at least judge it on how it is now.

^ This. So badly!

TPS is a good game.

I’m pretty sure the fans had nothing to do with that. Taxes raised in Australia or the city they were in or something. Maybe the fans had a only a little to do with it (if everyone had been less critical of the game at first then maybe it would have sold more copies and kept them in business longer?).

Also, TPS was not a piece of crap. Far from it. WAY far from it.

Hmnnn. Ps3 version buggy?

It’s not the best excuse but Gearbox/2k fixed a ton of stuff in patches. Even changed stuff that fans were clamouring for. Sure, first 2 weeks of TPS wasn’t as good as what it is today, but at least they kept fixing/changing things to make the game better. But even the version from the first two weeks on xbox 360 was fantastic. But I guess the first 2 weeks is all some gamers might give most games. They might not even check in later for a new version.

I certainly have no idea about the patches in most other games nowadays. Consoles now make this behind the scenes and automatic. Diablo 3 is good about telling you what’s new on loadup. But that assumes you load it up at all. I think the consoles should also make a point of telling you that a game was patched and allow the chance to view “update/patch notes”. Maybe even a little news feed on the console could show little bits of news related to your games. Only things like “game x patched to version blah, click in for patch notes”. Wii U kind of has this. It’s a little more info than I care to know about though. They throw in news about stuff I don’t care about. I just want to know about the games I’ve bought.

I was thinking the OP title was a witty way of eluding to multiplayer experiences. I’ll quietly back out of the room…

Only games I play. Borderlands… All of them. :sunglasses:

Keep um coming Gearbox. Vault Hunter for life!
