I think it would be a great idea to include the previous playable characters in the newest Borderlands.
Characters like:
Roland
Brick
Lilith
Mordecai
Axton
Maya
Zer0
Salvador
Gaige
Krieg
I’m not saying to hand them out at the very beginning but as rewards for doing a set of challenges or beating the game.
That or as a future dlc lol
This will give players a chance to play as the new vault hunters as well.
In my opinion this is a bad Idea. If you played TPS you’ll see how much they improved with charater design, and while I love Maya, she’s no Jack. Plus they would probably rebalance all those skills we love like Bloodsplosion, Salvador’s broken mess, Kinetic Reflection during duels, B0re, ect… and that would just ruin at least my affinity with those characters.
And also if you have played TPS you see how boring it is to have an bunch of returning mechanics, gear, skills, ect… I’d rather have 22 new charaters, rather than 16 cannon breaking/nostalgia ruining reused charaters and just 6 new.
(In reality I only want 6-10 new characters as one of my problems with Battleborn is that to me all the melee characters seem to be stepping on each others feet. As in they are to similar, or we have Oscar Mike and copy paste Whiskey Foxtrot. Which is bound to happen when you have 25 characters.)
Well…One of them is dead, for a start. Besides gbx having to rebalance everything. This was a very frequent request for BL2. It didn’t happen then. I don’t see it happening ever.
I think it’s better to start with a clean slate, as it were, than to try to bring back the old characters. I think GBX did a great job with re-introducing the original cast to BL 2 except for Roland and Mord getting new voice actors…
I keep seeing these “tina, moxxi, torgue, bl1&2vh playable in next bl” threads on every website somehow borderlands related.
And to be honest, in my opinion, just no. I don’t want to play as any of them.
The reason for this - well, all those funny quests from them, all those funny lines and stuff will disappear with making them playable. It doesnt even make sense to make any of these VH story-wise.
Instead, I would love to see new characters with their own backstories and meet previous one in a style similiar to BL2.
And for BL1&2 VH - I would add set of missions for them. Example.
Salvador would have his own mission pack (4-6 quests), and for completing them, you would earn their special loot and/or skill bonuses. Last mission could be bigger one where they could go with you and help you. I would personally like this more
But at the same time i would have a smilsmile, cause they at least thought about my lord Ted.
They could at least make his eridian warlord pal an NPC, i mean, who doesnt like colossal erdians with cannons on their back? Deep down i also hope they dont use an eridian warlord who’s name in a human language is Nazeem (love that name) so i could do stuff with it.
John- the only one i could see making sense in becoming a vault hunter is a grown up Tina. Following in Roland’s footsteps and making him proud; kicking ass inhis name and getting ■■■■ done.
She’d of course be an explosion based class, aswell.
Maybe this one could have some way of using old skill/class abilities via powerful items. Like if there’s a new playable siren, you could equip some relic that lets you use phaselock or phaseshift. But that would be in addition to your regular siren abilities.
The new “turret soldier” in BL3 would have some relic to let you do some of the axton/roland stuff.
Yes. That’s what I picture. Though, this time, if there’s an NPC helping me, HE BETTER BE A GOOD CO-OP PARTNER FOR ONCE. NPC Roland is the fricking worst as a co-op player. He steals your kills as you’re fighting for a second wind. He doesn’t ever try to res you. Etc… I think that if the AI is helping you, it needs to be “realistic” and literally pretend to be a co-op buddy while he’s around.
Speaking of which, the Diablo 3 companion thing would be a cool addition. Could work well with the “gonna need every vaulthunter you can get” theme.
Personally I wouldn’t mind having some or all of the old classes playable. I just can’t picture how that might alter the game structure.
But I absolutely love the idea of being able to run through BL1 or BL2 as Nisha or Jack, for example. So I’d love to see the following:
Once you beat BL3 you would unlock the player classes from BL1, BL2 and TPS and you’d unlock all the areas, enemies and bosses from all the old games and from BL3. It would make it the ultimate Borderlands. The idea would be that it’s accepted or understand that it’s not canon. In fact they could call it non-canon mode if need be. Perhaps it would be like adventure mode in Diablo 3. You could get random bounties/targets to go kill or just explore/kill/farm as you like. Want to go try out killing the Destroyer as Claptrap? Go right ahead. How about facing Crawmerax as Nisha or Jack (YEA!!! Take that!). Or want to take on some of the new BL3 content but as Lilith (because phasewalking is badass)?
So, while I love the idea, it could certainly be challenging to implement. It’s probably not as easy as “import old assets and tweak it until it functions” for the classes or the maps. But man I’d love this.
No matter what they do I hope they come up with a better solution for getting classmods in BL3.
I want play as the characters in family photo in moxxi bar in Tiny Tina dlc. Marcus, moxxi, scooter, and Ellie have family vacation to Pandora. They could be the starting characters then dr Ned and tannis as dlc
