Okay so I was just randomly playing today and noticed a pretty cool glitch, so if you have the excalibastard equipped and use the merger skill and get a critical hit there’s a chance the effect of excalibastard will be added to your laser and it instantly freezes them. And what’s more is that the critical hit damage is also dramatically increased from the excalibastard crit hit bonus

That’s a pretty well known bug.
Its nice, but honestly not worth the weapon slot and skill point. A grenade or fridgia would do the job just as well without locking you into an annoying melee animation for 5 seconds.
