Entering UVHM with my second character. Need some guidance

I have been leveling Zer0 as melee following guide, but I think I need a change because it’s not working to me.
This is only my second character, (melee Krieg is my main) so my knowledge of the class/game is still limited. I was thinking about use a build around these lines, but I am unsure if it is any good to start UVHM.
Weapons and gear, is another issue I have, because I have no idea what to use. I already saw the Top gear thread, but the majority of what is there, it’s for higher level player. However I do have a lvl 50 DPUH and a 51 pimpernel that I stored in the bank when I was leveling Krieg.

I’ve read that Zer0 is the best sniper in the game, but I’m not the type of player that just stand still from a distance and do headshots. I like to be more agressive and feel the blood of my foes in my face. Shotguns, pistols, assault rifles, even snipers should all be considered as long as I don’t need to stand still to be able to kill everything.

  1. What gear should I aim for while leveling?
  2. Which skills should I spec while leveling to 61 and 72?
  3. Any tips and suggestions on playing Zer0 are very welcome.

Thank you all in advance and excuse my poor English.

First of all… The link to the melee guide isn’t working, so we can’t see what it points at. But I’m guessing that it points to this guide. Some really solid advice there for us all.

Zero is very different compared to Krieg. You can’t play them the same way, and expect to be successful. Krieg is that guy who you sometimes see… That guy who someone hits so hard that you hear it all over town, but who refuses to go down. Instead he reaches for his Buzzaxe, and tears several new and interesting holes in everyone around him. That guy!

Zero is the guy who dances around you, while you desperately try to hit him, only to have him tear the same holes in you while you look the other way.

That’s what you need to keep in mind. Deception is your best friend, and the key to making Zero a hard-hitting badass. Use it as often as you can. Don’t place yourself in the line of fire. Be wary of your surroundings, young padawan (Couldn’t resist putting that one in there). Identify the biggest threats, and take them out first.

Already fixed the broken link. But you guessed the guide I was following :slightly_smiling:[quote=“Ronnie_Rayburn, post:2, topic:1218020”]

I understand that and pick my enemies carefully, but more times than other, I can’t do enough damage to take advantage of Many Must Fall.

Timing is everything! The bonus damage increases the longer you wait. When the “Execute” starts flashing, you get max bonus. Picking the right gear is also important. But you already know that from the guide. But, if you feel that you can’t reap the benefits from MMF because you don’t do enough damage, I would recommend that you respec.

Run down the middle tree to get Death mark and Death blossom. 80% debuff. When you get to level 58, you can pick up MMF again. And it’s OK to shoot stuff instead of trying to melee everything!

Do you have a Rapier? If not, go get one because the level doesn’t matter - the melee bonus is the same and its bullets do crap damage anyway. Also, make sure you update your roid shield whenever you find one with better roid damage if you’re going down the melee route. Which shield you have doesn’t really matter until you reach 72, just make sure you have the highest you can get; the punchee is a pretty easy one to farm if you have the crystals (take Krieg out raiding to get some, then give it to your Zer0).

I will get one rapier then. [quote=“Gulfwulf, post:5, topic:1218020”]

I usually farm vending machines in sanctuary for the shield. The rest of the gear that I have it’s the same as the guide I was following.

I’ve searched the wiki and I couldn’t find the shield you mentioned.

After playing Krieg, Zer0 melee feels very strange…

Sorry, it’s called the Pun-chee. It’s a decent shield until you can get a Hide of Terra.

Thank you. Guess I’ll give melee Zer0 another try :slightly_smiling:

I had thought that the punchee was considered a bad roid shield because of the fast recharge delay? If it’s not as bad as I once thought that’ll make future melee playthroughs far easier

It’s not a bad shield, but it does have a short recharge delay, so I’d go with the highest I could find. Then again, if you get hit, your recharge delay gets reset, so it shouldn’t matter much in combat. Push comes to shove, get a Tesla grenade to strip it and keep it stripped during combat.

Good point, thanks
