Here’s a short version of my Fantasy Build. If you’re an old pro, gear up and go punch some orcs in the dick. If you’re new to the game, or to Zer0, you may benefit from the more detailed breakdown that follows this summary.

ROLL! FOR! INITIATIVE!

This build kind of wrote itself. It basically takes some of the best Attack on Dragon Keep items and puts them where they belong.

I chose the mag-size versions of our three main weapons because having an extra dozen arrows in your quiver is a strong complement to the Rogue’s fire rate and crit bonuses. Most other prefixes would work well too, so don’t be too picky when you’re assembling your gear.

GUNS

Slot 1: Evisceration Grog Nozzle (Maliwan grip)
This is the trusty mithril dagger you always keep on your belt. Slag, healing, melee attachment. It’s a no-brainer for any seasoned adventurer in a FANTASY WORLD. Execute and Backstab will give you some excellent Killing Bl0ws with the blade.

Slot 2: Unending Stingers (Vladof grip, fire/corrosive)
It doesn’t glow in the presence of orcs, Mr. Frodo, but it does have magical bullets. Nearly identical to an Anarchist: screaming fire rate, good accuracy and damage. Non-elemental will work, but matching elements to the enemies in any given area is always the better choice, if you don’t mind occasionally swapping weapons. THE FOREST OF BEING EATEN ALIVE BY TREES doesn’t stand a chance against the fire version of this gun.

Slot 3: Extra Large Omens (Tediore grip, Hyperion or Tediore stock, fire/corrosive)
This is your longsword, and it’s one of the strongest weapons at your disposal. With 11/5 in Tw0 Fang and your class bonuses, you will see your enemies driven before you and hear the lamentations of their women. Also a solid FFYL gun, if you’re not into lamentations. [Edit: If you don’t like Vel0city’s effect on the Omen, you can move those points anywhere that suits you, or grab a different gun from your Bag of Holding.]

Slot 4: Plump Seeker (Torgue grip, Dahl stock)
You might think this enchanted throwing hammer is more suited to a barbarian or ranger. And I would have agreed with you before trying it with this build, but our Rogue has everything needed to overcome the Seeker’s weaknesses. We’ve got fire rate, reload speed, and bullet speed in droves. The Seeker is a lot of fun and offers surprisingly good damage output. Dragon corpses of all colors will rain from the skies. Plus, I’ve used the Swordsplosion on more than a few characters, and the Seeker is a nice change of pace. When you’re tired of aiming for crits with the Stinger, or if you’re low on shotgun ammo, swap to the Seeker and blow up…THE OCEAN.

ACCESSORIES

Shield: Blockade
This is your full plate mail. If you prefer chain mail, there’s an Antagonist in your Bag of Holding, but it’s not like the bad guys are only going to aim for your saucy bits. Overall, the Blockade feels a bit beefier, and we don’t need the Antagonist’s homing slag since we have a Magic Missile spell in our grimoire.

Class Mod: Chaotic Evil Rogue (blue rarity, +6 Tw0 Fang, +5 Vel0city)
Only the Stinger exceeds the break point on Tw0 Fang, whereas the Omen, Seeker, and Swordsplosion love the increased fire rate. Chaotic Neutral is another great COM for this build, if you’d rather have mag size than the crit bonus.

Relic: Shadow of the Seraphs
The only useful Tina relic is a great match with Zer0. And, as far as I know, it does stack with Tw0 Fang.

Grenade: Magic Missile
The Chain Lightning didn’t seem to be doing much damage at OP8, so I went with the extra slag here. The Moxxi heals aren’t instantaneous, though, so if you really like healing with the Chain Lightning or feel like you need a shield stripping weapon, go for it.

BAG OF HOLDING

  • Antagonist (for bullet-heavy areas or as a substitute for the Blockade).
  • Florentine for shock damage or when your Stinger depletes all your pistol ammo (Apt/Consummate, Maliwan grip, Dahl stock).
  • Casual Swordsplosion is a killer FFYL gun if you want a little extra security (Torgue grip, Hyperion stock).
  • The Ogre is a much stronger AR than the Seeker, so if you’re not having fun with the Seeker, this will provide more power and skill synergies in your fourth slot (Torgue grip, Dahl (?) stock).
  • Chain Lightning if you want instant Moxxi healing.
  • Firestorm if you want to kill yourself with your own grenade.
  • Friendship Amulet for extra Magic Points.
  • With the Treants displacing Sir Hellquist as the most popular source for Bee shields, no one will hold it against you if you keep one on-hand and call it a Dragon Keep item.

SKILLS

Skill Calculator: http://bl2skills.com/assassin.html#505001500050054145515050515000

SNIPING TREE
Headsh0t, Killer, B0re, and Vel0city all work well with the Rogue mod and with your equipped weapons. 0ne Sh0t 0ne Kill is not useful with this setup. [Edit: If you don’t like Vel0city’s effect on the Omen, you can spend those points anywhere that suits you.]

CUNNING TREE
All the usual suspects here, forgoing C0unterstrike and Fearless. The four points in Unf0reseen or Rising Sh0t can be moved over to Precisi0n if you’d prefer an accuracy boost instead.

BLOODSHED TREE
Killing Bl0w, Execute, and Backstab for big melee strikes against weakened enemies. Grim to support your Blockade. F0ll0wthr0ugh because movement is life.

PLAYSTYLE

I cast Magic Missile! Then I lay down some kunai and shoot the ■■■■ out of everything that moves. The Blockade and Grog Nozzle are great defensive tools and Fortune Favors the Bold, Adventurer, so…ROLL! FOR! INITIATIVE!

Velocity makes the Omen almost unusable, just a fyi. Nice thematic build though. Although for Zero I’d replace the Seeker for practical reasons, although if you’re sticking to the theme its all good.

Are you going to do a video?

What about replacing the seeker with the ogre? It can crit and has a higher fire rate and mag size than the seeker. It synergizes better with Rogue as well.

Thanks for the feedback, khimerakiller and boombumr. You’re both right on-target with your suggestions, and believe me, I also had serious reservations about the Seeker when I first started working on this a couple months ago.

But I didn’t have any problems at all using the Omens when testing the build. They ended up as my main damage dealers all the way through both the Dragon Keep and Torgue DLCs, even though I had imagined favoring the Stingers or the Florentine. With Tw0 Fang’s constant double-blasts and the high fire rate, the Omen definitely wasn’t accurate and the spread felt pretty crazy, but that actually worked great.

I just sprayed it downfield and everything melted. It was like carpet-bombing the whole map, which was a fun change from constantly worrying about hitting crits and managing optimal distances on projectile splits/convergences. It was especially great against big enemies like Treants, the Duke, and Badass Loaders, but it was also the only gun I used in FFYL. No problems there either!

The Ogre will unquestionably be stronger than the Seeker…in nearly every situation in the game…and you’re right about the synergies. But when I was practicing with this build, it was the first time I’d found the Seeker both fun and effective on Zer0, so I kept coming back to it.

Plus, the homing projectiles made it the coolest weapon to use against flying enemies like dragons, buzzards, and those dangerous Torgue Punishers. It won’t win any DPS races, but it was definitely the most fun for me and still strong enough to earn its place in Slot 4. It guess it just felt more magical.

I’m really glad you reminded me of the Ogre though, because I forgot to add it to the Bag of Holding. And I’ll definitely edit the OP to add it as a stronger replacement for the Seeker for those who do want to win DPS races!
