Forum post menu is very limited - Please add color options in forum post menu

My main issue for now is no color options and the akwardness of the bullet list button.
Along with the new code being too weird.

In the old forum, it is extremely easy to make a bulleted list.
The option here is not working as one might expect.
I post a list of sentences, one below the other, select them all, click the button here, and instead of making a list of the sentences, it just piles them up all together in one single bullet. This forces me to select every item individually, and click the bullet list button every single time.

Also, if I try to make a bullet list out of a sentence that is a bit too long, it breaks in places, making parts of it go in a line below, so I have to manually delete the spaces and line-breakers, to make it a single bullet list, like I wanted.

I also can’t create lists within lists anymore. It’s just not possible. In bbcode I could.

Why are there so few options here? Are more options going to be added?
Is adding bbcode as an option being considered or has it already been rejected?

It’s bad enough that we will lose all our stats, and that we have to port all our threads here, but at least we shouldn’t have to deal with adjusting countless pages of text to a new code which is lacking key options, to say the least.

I hope things are still being tested and be added here, because as it is, our options are very limited.

I also find the menu to be limited. It can also be hard to press the small buttons on mobile now that i dont have the ability to zoom in on the screen.

I was afraid of this. Thats why I gave up on porting guides to Steam, this formating is pretty much the same. You cant add color, change font, but hey… at least we have A LOT of completely useless emojis - yay! -_-

I’m trying to create another thread, and it says I have to wait 19 hours. Seriously?
At least I can make new posts.

Thanks for the feedback, Impala. FWIW, the new forums are very much a work in progress and feedback like this is extremely valuable to us. Thanks again!

That’s great to hear. I hope we see more buttons.

The issue with text breaking when I select it and click the bullet button, it happens with copy/pasting as well. I 'm currently porting my prestige guide here, and I have to manually delete the line-breakers after pasting it in here.

No it isn’t? :stuck_out_tongue: Stats mean absolutely nothing; postcount isn’t exactly an indicator of anything.

Looking forward to the improvements Gearbox brings. I’m not too fussed about colours, but lists within lists are definitely something useful I’d feel was missing. Thanks for testing this already!

Post count had some meaning. Not in an elitist kind of way mind you, but you can always tell a new member apart from an old regular. Makes it easier to direct them to the right place or give the right kind of advice. I’m not gonna suggest to someone with 12000 posts to check the stickies… but a new user might get some use out of them.

It’s also nice to see who’s contributed to the forum

Also, the preview box is awesome, because if it was not there, I would have no idea what I’m writing looks like. Because there’s little indication of what you’ve done. Bold and italics are just asterisks. Headings are just some lines under what you selected. Some options just more the text a bit to the right. Others add symbols that I personally have not associated with the selected action.

And if a thread is too long, the preview box does not show what is in the writing box. So after I’m done writing and formatting, I have to scroll down the preview box to see what I wrote looks like. Because I can’t be sure I formatted my post as I wanted.

Quoting is also broken or something. I can’t quote a list, or boxed text. It messes the formatting up.

I guess what I’m saying is we shouldn’t have this much trouble porting threads from the old forum or creating new threads. If we haven’t hit our daily limit, that is.

Join date also factors in there. Post count isn’t a reliable indicator of interest, intelligent, or basically anything beyond “how often can you post in the OT spam thread” :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, join date is a factor too, but some people joined up when BL1 was released, posted 3-4 times on trade subforums, then disappeared only to come back when BL2 was released… I don,t think those people are the definition of what constitute a forum contributor :stuck_out_tongue:
Still, someone with 6000 posts who joined 3 months ago it also a bad example

Agreed, I wants me some color.

My first post I was like "OOOOOOHhhh neat! What I am doing over here looks like what I want over there!

Color, fonts, a spoiler tag(haven’t found one) sizes

Color: does not exist

Fonts: use back-tick ( ` ) for monospace. If you want comic sans for some reason, too bad.

Spoiler: doesn’t seem to exist. Could de-facto exist if style="bgcolor:######; color:######" wasn’t stripped out.

Sizes: Markdown has easy codes for the various html <H#> tags, but that’s about it
#H1 (# before bigassified text)
##H2 (##)
###H3 (###)
####H4 (####)
#####H5 (#####)
######H6 (######)

The formatting actually reminds me of Reddit formatting, which is pretty… lame compared to BBCode. From my Reddit experience spoilers can be added in, but I’m not sure about the rest.

Doing — under a text does this:

Text

doing — without text on the line above or — on the line above does this:

i’m pretty sure an admin has to add them before we can use them.

Spoiler tags are doable. insert super secret stuff here <~~Just click/tap it!
Spoiler tags are the same as they were on the other board - [spoiler] [/sp0iler]

Obviously that zero being an o instead. But I had to show it somehow.
