My main issue for now is no color options and the akwardness of the bullet list button.
Along with the new code being too weird.
In the old forum, it is extremely easy to make a bulleted list.
The option here is not working as one might expect.
I post a list of sentences, one below the other, select them all, click the button here, and instead of making a list of the sentences, it just piles them up all together in one single bullet. This forces me to select every item individually, and click the bullet list button every single time.
Also, if I try to make a bullet list out of a sentence that is a bit too long, it breaks in places, making parts of it go in a line below, so I have to manually delete the spaces and line-breakers, to make it a single bullet list, like I wanted.
I also find the menu to be limited. It can also be hard to press the small buttons on mobile now that i dont have the ability to zoom in on the screen.
I was afraid of this. Thats why I gave up on porting guides to Steam, this formating is pretty much the same. You cant add color, change font, but hey… at least we have A LOT of completely useless emojis - yay! -_-
Thanks for the feedback, Impala. FWIW, the new forums are very much a work in progress and feedback like this is extremely valuable to us. Thanks again!
Post count had some meaning. Not in an elitist kind of way mind you, but you can always tell a new member apart from an old regular. Makes it easier to direct them to the right place or give the right kind of advice. I’m not gonna suggest to someone with 12000 posts to check the stickies… but a new user might get some use out of them.
It’s also nice to see who’s contributed to the forum
Also, the preview box is awesome, because if it was not there, I would have no idea what I’m writing looks like. Because there’s little indication of what you’ve done. Bold and italics are just asterisks. Headings are just some lines under what you selected. Some options just more the text a bit to the right. Others add symbols that I personally have not associated with the selected action.
And if a thread is too long, the preview box does not show what is in the writing box. So after I’m done writing and formatting, I have to scroll down the preview box to see what I wrote looks like. Because I can’t be sure I formatted my post as I wanted.
Quoting is also broken or something. I can’t quote a list, or boxed text. It messes the formatting up.
I guess what I’m saying is we shouldn’t have this much trouble porting threads from the old forum or creating new threads. If we haven’t hit our daily limit, that is.
Join date also factors in there. Post count isn’t a reliable indicator of interest, intelligent, or basically anything beyond “how often can you post in the OT spam thread”
Well, join date is a factor too, but some people joined up when BL1 was released, posted 3-4 times on trade subforums, then disappeared only to come back when BL2 was released… I don,t think those people are the definition of what constitute a forum contributor
Still, someone with 6000 posts who joined 3 months ago it also a bad example
