This godlike weapon, the Bekah

This gun is FLYING through to the top of my “favorite weapons in BL2” list. Just had a couple of questions about it.

  1. Why is this gun not used in the place of the Sand Hawk? This thing crits like a monster, has higher base damage, and fires faster.

  2. Would 10/5 in Accelerate really hurt this gun?

Because the Sandhawk is easy to get, and does very abusive damage with a Bee.

Because people are not smart

The bekah can easily compete with the sandhawk outside a few situations where matching elements is needed (saturn, petes shield, some raids)

There are a few reasons why Jakobs in general are ignored, most are based on skill. People like easy guns that take no skill like the Harold.

  • Pulling the trigger for each shot, people like to just hold down and shoot
  • Aiming for crits, you would be suprised how rarely the average player hits crits
  • Recoil, you have to manage it
  • ADS, you can hip fire this gun but you really want to ADS with it as much as possible

Other reasons

  • Its really really rare so less people have got their hands on it
  • It’s an AR people assume all AR’s suck
  • very few people really talk about it a lot

But you are right @BL2_Player, not only can this keep up with the sandhawk, many times it out preforms it

  • Higher base damage
  • Higher crit damage
  • Higher fire rate
  • Only 1 ammo per shot

The Bekah still has unlisted pellets but also has penetration. In my mind the Bekah is the single best gun in the game, even over the pimp.

I’m beginning to really dislike the Bee. It pigeonholes players into using these stock weapons and miss out on things like this. I am also realizing that I need to aim better–when it doesn’t crit, the Bekah is not as good as the Hawk.

Has there been a DPS comparison between the two?

I know that the Bekah is one of the strongest guns in the game. I know its crit modifier is powerful. However, a Sandhawk you get from doing a DLC story mission, a Bekah can only be acquired from Tubbies if I’m not mistaken.
Also, I’ve never been a fan of Jakobs ARs because I don’t like how they feel to use. The way a weapon feels to use is more important to me than how powerful it actually is. Jakobs shotguns, on the other hand, feel wonderful to me.

And @BL2_Player, I only use the Bee when farming. I never use it for normal play. I like having actual protection from a shield.

Sorry I forgot to address your second question, it does hurt it, the split happens further. You can still use it but you have to just adjust.

But to your damage/DPS question Here are ideal op8 versions of each gun

Boss Bekah
D) 662641 (x4 = 2,650,564)
FR) 13.8
R) 3.1
M) 16

Flying Sandhawk
D) 170796 (x8 = 1,366,368)
FR) 2.9 (more while burst)
R) 3.0
M) 38 (13 shots because 3 rounds per shot)

So without a bee on a body shot even with matching elements the bekah does more per shot,

  • Bekah 2,650,564
  • Sandhawk 2,391,144

Even with Burst fire you can put out pellets faster with a Bekah than with a Sandhawk unless you have a really slow trigger finger, and you get 16 shots a mag vs 13 with the Bekah.

So the Bekah wins on damage, fire rate, and mag size. The sandhawk only wins on Reload Speed by 0.1.

If you add the Bee its a bit different since you get 3 unlisted pellets with the Bekah and 7 with the Sandhawk. An OP8 bee can add up to 1,825,860 so that would be

On Body shots
Bekah 9954004
Sandhawk 16,998,024 without matching elements

So when you add in the Bee the Sandhawk wins, now adding in crits the gap closes but the Sandhawk still wins. Here is why I don’t care. The Bekah still does enough damage but does it with little ammo, the Sandhawk eats though your ammo like crazy and you have to keep swapping to match elements.

If you have run the peak with the sandhawk you know how fast you burn through your ammo, with the Bekah I never have ammo issues at all.

So add in how it has better DPS non Bee, much much better ammo consumption it wins the day for me.

I have a level 65 one which is being passed down from character to character; would love to find a level 72 for my Maya!

I want it really bad for my Axton and Gaige :frowning:

5/5 Accelerate makes it to where you have to have a rather large distance between yourself and the target before the bullets split. I imagine 10/10 places the bullet splitting distance out to almost sniper rifle range. If you plan on using the Bekah a lot I would ignore Accelerate altogether.

I have 5/5 Accelerate but I do not use the Bekah unless I am fighting a Constructor or an enemy that needs to be burned down as quickly as possible or is otherwise a giant damage sponge to the other weapons I have on Maya.

Can anyone tell me how should I use bekah to make it godlike? I might be missing something out but I am killing things wayyyyy slower than pimpernel with sniper zer0 :stuck_out_tongue:

  1. because the sandhawk is better, it’s that simple. also neither needs to be used “in place” of the other considering they’re different weapon types

  2. accelerate increases the distance before the pellet splits, potentially decreasing the damage output

Only with the Bee’s unlisted pellet exploit.

Which also applies to the bekah… The sandhawk is still the best smg in the game with or without a bee

Maya also has way more synergy with smgs

Her only smg synergy is one com, pseudo bore on the bekah also has way more synergy with chain reaction. So again the sandhawk only really wins with the bee and even they just barely.

OK, I know this might be a little skewed, but how does the Bekah compare to a Sandhawk + L. Cat + Fire BoA? No one will really use the Sandhawk without any one of those two additional items.

Well in that case combine the Jakobs relic (+mag, +recoil reduc) with the Bekah. A 25 mag size Bekah is pretty powerful.

Sandhawk will win with the cat com alone I believe, the bone is just some extra worms for the hawk.

Well if you use the siren com you dint need a bone for cooldown or damage so it opens up your relic slot, a Jakobs relic with more mag helps the dps or you can use a heart, blood, or relics for survival instead. A major complaint about uvhm is how easy you die, so using a gun that lets you use more slots for survival is great.

Also if you play co-op you can shoot an enemy kil them and heal your teammate with the same bullet, works wonders for deathtrap or turrets.

How about fire rate bonus from Wreck?

Agreed.

However, I’m the exact opposite. That’s why I’m slow-playing my levels. For me, I don’t want to max out. Because then it’s got too much potential to get boring by being on the top of the pile. I like knowing that it’s just going to keep getting harder.

BTW, I have never seen the Bekah yet  so that’s my 2 cents.
